It was the Monday after the winter break. Trinity, James, Eric, Kyrin, and Vanessa had hung out a lot and practiced their powers with each other. They had all mastered their abilities. Eric can deflect things, Trinity can draw, bring to life, and control monsters, James can turn into anyone or anything, Kyrin can make things appear out of thin air, and Vanessa can read minds. They learned more and more about their powers. Trinity woke up that Monday morning and got ready for school. She turned to her vanity mirror and began brushing her hair. Next to the mirror on the wall was Eric's cell phone number. Eric and Trinity spent hours texting when he wasn't over. Trinity smiled at the sight of it. She put her brush down and went down the stairs and got breakfast. When she finished her biscuit, she met Kyrin outside, got in the car, and went to school. Trinity and Kyrin got there a little early as usual and wandered the halls talking.
"You know, Eric really likes you. Don't tell him I told you this, but James didn't like you at first because he thought you'd break his brother. I don't think there's anyone who cares about Eric more than James. Anyways, he said Eric always talked about you. He told me everything changed when he found a sketch book under your bed and a drawing of Eric. That's why when you and Eric were being love birdies," she stopped talking to make a heart with her hands, "he was smiling," Kyrin finished.
"Really? That's explains a lot actually," Trinity replied. Eric walked down the hall towards them and Trinity ran to him and hugged him. "I missed you."
"I missed you, too," Eric said and kissed her on the cheek. Trinity got a warm, tingling sensation on her cheek and smiled.
"Well I'm gonna go to class. Bye love birds," Kyrin said smiling and walked away.
"I got you something, my highness," Eric said proudly. He pulled her over to the side of the hallway and got down on one knee. He was holding a small box.
"Are you proposing?!" Trinity asked bewildered.
"What? Oh, no. No. Well, not that I wouldn't, but you know, we're too young and, oh who am I kidding. I should stop talking." He opened it slowly revealing a necklace with a heart on the end. On the front, her name was written. On the back, there was an engraved message. It said: You're beautiful, and whenever I close my eyes, I see you. Trinity picked up the necklace.
"It's beautiful. It's the most thoughtful thing anyone's ever given me," Trinity said as she turned the heart over and over in her hands.
"Do you want me to put it on for you?"
"I'd appreciate it," Trinity said smiling. He took the necklace back and went behind her. He unhooked it and put it around her neck as she held her dark brown curls out of the way. He hooked it back again and pulled her hands away from her hair. He tucked a strand behind her ear. "I have to go to class. The bells gonna ring soon. Bye Trinity," Eric said walking away.
"Bye, honey," Trinity joked after him. He turned around and smiled.
He then asked raising an eyebrow, "Honey? So we are married!" He then turned back around and went into his class. Trinity stood there staring where he had been for a few seconds and then headed to class herself.
. . . . . .Trinity and Kyrin walked out of science and to their lockers. Next to their lockers was the counselor and a boy with blond hair and blue eyes. He was tall and skinny. His face was distinctive. The counselor turned to them as they walked up.
"Trinity, Kyrin, this is Sean. He's new here."
"Hi Sean, I'm Trinity. I just moved here myself about a month ago," Trinity said shaking his hand. Cold. Trinity pulled away quickly. "And I'm Kyrin," she said happily and waved. He waved back, smiling. Trinity and Kyrin then grabbed their lunches and left to jade hall. When they walked in, James, Eric, and Vanessa were already sitting. They walked up the rows and sat down. Trinity sat down next to Eric and Kyrin sat next to Vanessa. Eric slipped his arm around Trinity. Trinity scanned to floor of jade hall. Sean walked in and observed the isles and rows. Trinity loand said, "We need a code. You know, something so if we're talking about our powers, someone can say it if an adult or student is coming."
Vanessa said, "Good idea. So what should the code be?"
"I've given this some thought. I wanted it to be random, but also sound like an actual statement. Lan is Bam. It's based off something from Colorado, so there's no way anyone can figure it out," Trinity said.
"Lan is bam? I like it," said Eric.
"If only you knew," Trinity smirked. Eric immediately looked concerned, but once he opened his mouth, Vanessa started speaking.
"Ok, we'll use that." James and Eric started talking about the weekend. Eric continued, "And then James turned into a shovel. I used him bury the-"
"Lan is bam," Trinity said quietly. Eric stopped talking as Sean walked up to them.
"Hi, I'm Sean. Can I hang out with you for today? It's my first day."
"Ya, sure," Kyrin smiled, and jestured to a seat.
James asked, "So where did you move from?"
"Gu-, sorry. I don't know what I was about to say.... Sorry, Pennsylvania," Sean said awkwardly. Trinity watched him as they all talked. She just couldn't put her finger on it, but something about him just seemed off. The bell rang and they all got up to go to lunch. Trinity was the last person to exit to row. Sean stopped her right when she started for the door.
"Can I help you?" Trinity ask annoyed.
"May I just say you're beautiful?" Sean said.
Trinity began, "I'm sorry, but I have a boyfriend-"
Sean smiled and replied, "So?" Trinity gave him a disgusted look.
"Sooo, I'm not looking for a relationship," Trinity said.
Sean yelled, "Come on, I'm way better than Eric!"
"I never said who I was dating," suspicion crept into Trinity's voice.
"Oh, like it's not obvious," was all Sean replied.
Trinity bubbled up with anger and yelled, "You are an evil, twisted, boy, now get out of my way before Ido something you regret!" She broke through his arms when he tried to stop her. She hustled into the cafeteria and sat next to Eric looking flustered.
"Hey, what took you so long? I was getting worried," said Eric.
"Nothing, just had to ask my history teacher a question,"Trinity lied.
"Oh ok," replied Eric. They all .
Kyrin then asked, "So that new guy Sean seems pretty cool, right?"
"No," Trinity muttered with her hand and her chin.
"No?" Kyrin repeated, confused.
"I don't trust him. There's something very off about him. He's just gonna cause trouble." Eric looked at her in concern and wondered, "Did I miss something?"
"Nothing happened, alright?" she replied looking down and stuffing food in her mouth.
"Hm, for some reason I don't believe you, Trinity," Eric said worried.
"Oh no he didn't! He said that? That dirtbag! Trinity, if you don't tell Eric, I will," Vanessa's words all jumbed out at once. Trinity looked over at her tiredly and replied,"Why did you have to get the power to read minds? I'm just afraid-"
"Lan is bam," James whispered. They all stopped as Sean walked behind them and to the lunch line.
"He said he wanted to go out with Trinity when he knew you two were dating. How sick... and then Trinity called him evil and twisted ," Vanessa said.
Eric said really angrily, "He what?!" Eric started to stand up, but Trinity grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back down. "Let me kill him. Let me go kill him."
"Puh-lease, Eric, like you would actually kill him. Why so dramatic?" Kyrin watched him. Eric started clenching and unclenching his fists and staring at the lunch line, that now led out the door.
"Can we just forget about this?" Trinity asked. Eric was about to reject, but nodded. They continued eating and when the bell rung, they left for their classes. Trinity walked into math and saw Sean talking to the teacher. She sat down in her assigned seat and took out her homework. Trinity heard her name and looked up. The teacher was pointing at her and explaining something to Sean. She looked at the empty chair next to her and closed her eyes pleading he wouldn't sit there. A minute later, Sean's familiar voice came from next to her.
"I guess we're math buddies," he said smiling at her. She glared at him from her side view and his smile got bigger. All through math, Sean bothered and annoyed Trinity. She was biting her tongue and clenching her fists to resist the urge to punch him. When the bell finally rang, she jumped out of her chair and ran for the door. She got to her locker and started twisting the combo when Sean came up from behind her, grabbed her shoulders and turned her around, so she was facing him, and slammed her against the locker. She stared, stunned, into his eyes, forcing back the pain.
"I know you like Eric, but please reconsider," he said. He released her shoulders, but kept her arm pinned, hurting her hand and wrote his number. "There. Feel free to call," his smile was ugly. Unaware of her surroundings, Trinity pulled her fist back and let it fly forward, punching him in the face. He put his hand to his nose, which had begun to bleed. He stared wide-eyed at Trinity and then vanished out of no where. Trinity looked around, but couldn't find him. She packed up her things and went to the bathroom and scrubbed off his number. When she came out if the bathroom, she walked with Kyrin and Vanessa to her bus where she told them what had happened. She started from math, then him slamming her into the locker, his number, her punching him, (which Kyrin and Vanessa applauded to when learning she gave him a bloody nose) and lastly, him vanishing.
"I still don't know how it quiet happened. I was just so mad. Im still kinda in a shock," Trinity said.
"You're brave, Trinity. If I was you, I wouldn't be able to hit him back. I can't even hurt a fly," Kyrin said.
"Yeah, smart and quick reaction. I bet he won't bother you anymore," said Vanessa happily.
"I sure hope so," Trinity said, then got off the bus. She walked home and went up to her room. She pulled out her phone. She stared at it for a while then decided she should text Eric about what happened.
Trinity: Hey! I need to tell you something that happened after lunch.
He responded soon after that.
Eric: What happened? Did Sean do something else? That blond wanna be needs to be taught a lesson.
Trinity: Wait? He's not naturally blond?
Eric: No. You could tell it was bleached. Not very well, but bleached none the less. There were brown roots on his head.
Trinity: oh. Well yes, it involves Sean.
Trinity explained everything that happened. Eric was furious.
Eric: He slammed you into the locker?!?!?
Trinity: yes and then he wrote his number on my arm and I punched him, giving him a bloody nose.
Eric: =) that's my girl!
Trinity: I thought you'd like that part.
Eric: ok, then what happened?
Trinity: He vanished.
Eric: vanished?
Trinity: yep, out of thin air.
Eric: how?
Trinity: Eric, do you think I know? Well I gotta start homework. Bye
Eric: bye. Try to avoid your stalker.
Trinity smiled and turned off her phone. She grabbed her backpack and started her homework.. . . . . .
The rest of the week, Sean never showed up. No one seemed concerned. The students acted like he was never there and the teachers skipped his name in attendance. Trinity was happy about the fact until she started thinking more about his disappearance. It was Thursday and they were all sitting down eating lunch in the cafeteria.
"I know I hate his guts, but this isn't right," Trinity said.
"It's true! In history, the teacher skipped over his name in attendance," outraged Eric and James who have history together.
"This is all really suspicious, don't get me wrong, but I don't think we can do anything until he shows up again," pondered Vanessa.
"That's true. I'll guess we'll have to sit and wait," Kyrin said. They ate their lunches and then finished class. Trinity, Kyrin, and Vanessa got on the bus and Trinity could of sworn she saw a shadow move out of the corner of her eye, but she shook it off as paranoia.A/N
