Time passed and eventually Kate was elected as the President of Vincent High Astronomy Society.

By February she received a letter from Nothanger High inviting four girls to participate in a sun observation camp. The letter had been signed by Ryan Hartford as he was the President of their society. Kate traced his signature as if it were a butterfly wing. She felt awkward to have done it. But she dropped the thought.

Despite her teacher-in-charge's words, Kate was determined to ring up a committee member of Nothanger High to confirm the participation of four, including herself. She simply could have inclined her will to call the Secretary, Raymond. But her heart urged her to ring up Ryan Hartford. So, lost in the dilemma she closed her eyes and followed her heart.

It took several long seconds for Ryan Hartford to answer and in the meantime, the phone was slipping from Kate's hand. She was sweaty, trembling and terrified. Her nervousness made her impossible to stand. She didn't want to risk dropping the receiver so she clung to the wall for support. There was a banquet of butterflies in her stomach and she half expected that she might die of a heart attack on the spot.
