I once saw love.
She had an innocent face.
Blind to all hate and anguish.
Striking in appearance.
Graceful as a snowy white dove.
She beckoned to me many a time
I entertained the thought of pursuing her
On occasion I did just that
Love. Unabashed, pure, and tender
The feeling she brings
Like no other
Our fingers intertwined
My heart in the throes of her charm
My thoughts permeated by her image
Oh, love. How I came to worship thee
Knelt at your altar
Prayed to your god
A false god it was
Full of deceit and trickery
Masterful in its cunning lies
Damn you, love
You brazen bitch
How I loathe thee
How could I be fooled
How could I be embarrassed
How could I be so naive
I rebuke thee
I blaspheme thy wicked name
I spit in thy face
Then like a madman
I follow you once again
As you rear your ugly head
Love, innocent and true
That's what I thought once
Til I fell out of your spell
