The truth (chapter 6)

*Vanessa’s POV*

I’m about to waste the first full day of my vacation.

I just want this day to be over with.

But for some strange reason I feel nervous? I have little butterflies.

I’m spending the day with somebody I can’t stand!

10:00

I have exactly one hour to get ready.

I had a quick shower, just long enough to shampoo, conditioner and shave my legs.

I then blow-dried my natural pin straight hair and decided to leave it down. I quickly applied a thin layer of water proof mascara just in case we ended up going swimming. I put on a clear lip-gloss and brought it with me in my purse. I decided to bring my phone, some money, lip-gloss and tampons just in case.

What to wear what to wear!

I decided on a red polka dot bikini and over it I wore a plain black tank top and dark blue denim short shorts. Liam didn’t specify what to wear, so I just went simple.

10:55

Okay no time to eat …..

“MOM, IM GOING OUT! BE HOME LATER TONIGHT”

 I grabbed my small purse, threw on a pain of black flip flops and headed down to the hotel entrance where Liam would pick me up.

I saw Liam's car pull up and I opened the door to the passenger seat and sat down.

He smiled at me and started to drive away from the hotel

“Where are we going?” I asked him curiously

“Somewhere” he told me.

“Thanks, that really helps.” I said rudely

He didn’t respond.

After a while, we finally pulled up at what looked like a giant garden.

It was absolutely gorgeous. There were many different kinds of plants and flowers everywhere. We walked down a pathway of stones in the center of the garden and it lead to a picnic.

“Do you like it?” he asks me

“It’s really nice” I said with a smile

We went over to the picnic laid out on the ground and sat down.

“I hope you’re hungry because I brought enough food to feed a family of 10” he said

I giggled

“Starved”

We ate in silence but this time it wasn’t awkward. It was like we were just enjoying each other’s presence.

Liam looked like he was deep in thought the whole time.

We were completely stuffed and officially finished our picnic.

“Vanessa, I really need to talk to you”

“About what?”

“I just need to explain why I am the way I am, I’m not the guy you think I am”

“Don’t tell me you’re a vampire!” I said jokingly, trying to break the tension

He stuck his tongue out at me

“Seriously Vanessa, Can I just take a little bit to prove I’m not the jerk you think I am? You’re opinion mean a lot to me”

“Go for it”

“You say I date a lot of girls. You’re going to think I’m insane after I tell you why. Here it goes…. I’m afraid to fall in love. I’m afraid they will fall out of love with me. I’m scared they won’t want to be with me forever. I get scared there just using me, lying to me, and pretending. So whenever my feeling start to get strong for a girl, I break up with them. I ask out a new girl to help heal the pain of the last girl. It’s like an endless cycle and it needs to be broken. But I’m just scared.”

“Liam, I… I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t have to say anything yet, I still have more explaining to do. Now onto the whole conceded selfish guy thing. I’m really not like that, I just pretend to be. It usually attracts the type of girls that I wouldn’t fall in love with. Which makes everything easier. The real me is more of the fun but sensitive typ.”

“Wow Liam, I honestly did not expect that. But what about Ashley? You certainly fell for her so quick you needed to come on to me 30 minutes later?” I asked more rudely than I should of

“I don’t know what that chick has told you, but there’s nothing going on between us” he argued

“I find it quite hard to believe because the girl threatens me for looking at you, she brags about dates with you, I always see you two together flirting, can you explain this?”

“First of all I have never asked her out. She’s crazy. She always knows where I am and flirts with me, and since my friends think she ‘so hot’ I flirt back so they think I’m cool. Shallow I know, but I care too much about what people think of me, and I’m done. I’m going to be the true Liam from now on, I promise. Oh and wait, hold up? She how did she threaten you?”

I showed Liam the text

“Wow that girl has some serious problems.”

“I know! Liam?”

“Yea Vanessa?”

“Thank you for being so honest with me. I really appreciate it. Can we start over?”

“Sure”

*he held out his hand*

“Hi my name is Liam Payne”

*I shook his hand *

“Hi my name is Vanessa Parkes”

“Want to be friends?” he asked me confidently

“Of course” I said and gave him a hug.

For some reason, I just couldn’t wipe the smile of my face (:
