*Vanessa’s POV*
First day back at school. Why doesn’t it surprise me that Matt didn’t come pick me up like he usually does?
To: Matt
Where are you?
Within seconds my phone signaled it had a new text
From: Matt
The world doesn’t revolve around you. Don’t expect me to pick you up anymore.
I guess it’s going to be harder than I thought to get him back as a friend. As soon as I see him at school I’m going to confront him.
I walked down the hall until I reached Matt's locker. He was standing there talking to Ashley. I shook my head.
“Matt I need to talk to you”
“Okay then talk.” He said harshly
“Privately.”
“And what if I don’t want to talk to you?”
“Matt you’re my best friend, just give me 5 minutes to talk to you.”
“WAS your best friend” he corrected me, emphasizing on ‘was’
Him and Ashley turned around and started to walk away.
I grabbed his arm
“DON’T TOUCH ME” He yelled. I jumped, startled. Matt never usually raised his voice at anybody unless he was really mad. This is the first time he ever raised his voice at me. By now everybody in the halls were stopped and staring at us.
“What the hell has gotten into you Matt? I leave for 2 weeks and suddenly everything changes?! ” I screamed right back at him
“You dumb bitch, just leave me and my girlfriend alone!” He and Ashley stormed away.
I stood there confused. What have I done wrong? I’ve never done anything wrong to either of them. I don’t know what the hell Ashley has told him, but she’s changed him. Why am I even going to bother getting my best friend back? I don’t need him, I don’t want him. I don’t care about him anymore. But if I don’t care about him, why am I still thinking about this? From now on I’ll try my best to act as if Matt and Ashley don’t even exist. I needed closure though, so I decided to text him a final goodbye.
To Matt: I don’t know what I’ve done to you to make you hate me. You were the best friend I ever had and I trusted you. I was there for you the first time Ashley broke your heart, don’t expect me to be there the second time. Give me all my stuff back and delete my number well you’re at it. Bye.
Looks like I'm officially alone.
