It was 4am when the rooster crowed, it was still dark outside, but I got up and took out my fetching bucket. My family had run out of water and needed to head to the stream to get some for. None of my younger siblings were old enough to go to the stream that early on their own except Ikenna. However, I knew he had exams coming up and decided not to bother him. The stream was about 30 minutes walking distance and by the time I was back from the third trip, the day had broken. My parents had left for their various businesses and my siblings had gone to school. I checked the time in my cheap Nokia phone and saw that it was almost 7:00. I took a shower, and put on the only suit trouser I had and dressed up. I took out my book where I had written down names of companies I would apply to. I ran my fingers over the names and finally settled on the one I would go to today. However when I looked at the address, I saw that it was a long distance from my house and I could not afford the transportation for it, so I decided to choose the closest one to my home. I was going to trek again, and I did not want to look like a sacrificial lamb because I had arrived at the company in sweats. I checked my purse and saw that I had about #4000 left. That would be okay for my transportation, for 2 weeks, but I was not sure of a job even then. I finally decided to walk halfway and then take the yellow rickety cheap buses known as molue buses.
I had walked down to the expressway and kept going when a Cherokee jeep stopped in front of me. An elderly man in his 60's wound down the window and gave me a dazzling smile. He looked really good and muscular unlike most men his age.
"Where are you going beautiful" he asked smiling at me.
"Good morning sir" I said and curtsied.
"Oh don't call me sir" he said in a flattering voice. "You can call me Andz"
"Um good morning Mr. Andz" I said and curtsied again
"It's just Andz" he said and smiled again "Where are you headed to?"
"I'm on my way to 'Lems&co' company" I replied.
"Okay then get in the car let me drop you off" he said
"No sir I am perfectly fine" I replied and began walking away.
"No it is fine" he replied and came out of the car "Just come on in let me drop you off" he said and opened the door for me.
I did not want to go in, but I was already running late and I was about to give this company all my shot. After contemplating for about 3 minutes with Mr. Andz giving me a dazzling smile, I got in and we drove off. In the car, we had discussed for quite a while and I found him to be interesting. I told him about my job search and he gave me his card and asked for my number which I gave to him. He said he was a top official in one of the companies I wanted to apply to and he promised to get back to me. As we talked, we were not aware of when we arrived at Lem&co till I noticed where we were. He dropped me off and I thanked him

I walked into the building and felt scared. It was gigantic and I had no idea where to head to. I decided to head into the first turn by my right when I bumped into someone and my papers flew away. He had a briefcase and all he had was secured, but my documents were all in a file.
"I am so sorry" we both said at the same time and then looked at each other. I could not believe it. It was him, the man who had almost hit me down then shouted at me the day before. I did not know if he remembered me, but I was not about to make a fool of myself in front of him again. I cursed my ill-luck and I was frustrated at meeting him again, and in the middle of my job search. I began picking up my documents and I was surprised when he joined.
"I am sorry about yesterday' he began.
"What do you mean" I asked feigning ignorance
"Well, almost hitting you, yelling at you, calling you crazy" he explained
"It is fine thank you" I replied and smiled.
"You have a beautiful smile. Do you work here?" He asked
"No I just came for the job application" I replied.
"Can I see your C.V" he asked and I looked at him shocked "I am not a kidnapper I swear" he said laughing
I gave him my C.V and he looked over it for close to 3 minutes. He introduced himself to me as Emeka and directed me to the right place to submit my application. I thanked him and left, but not without collecting his business card which he had offered to me. I felt luck was finally shining on me. I had gotten two promising business cards in a single morning.
