Emeka arrived home all hearty and happy. He had been nervous and skeptical about asking Ngozi to be his girlfriend. Nervous because he had no idea if she loved him back or just saw him as a friend, and skeptical because he was not sure if she would truly love him for himself and not his money. However after she had said yes to his proposal, he was perfectly sure she was all he wanted. He made up his mind that he would tell her about his affluent family background, and trust her till whenever she could tell him about hers. The only problem was that he knew his parents would not approve of her. Because she was poor. His father might come around but his mum most probably would not. He was super excited about places to take her to. She seemed nothing like Chioma who always wanted the most expensive things, and who was never impressed by every effort he made to please her.

Nneka had arrived home right before her husband who had absolutely no idea she even left the house in the first place. After she had arrived, she had cried her eyes out. Seeing her husband with that young girl brought back memories to her. Memories of when she and Anselem had recently married. There was something about the way her husband and this young lady that made her think of their earlier years, and she wondered how she and Anselem had gotten to the stage they were now. She recalled how much in love they had been with each other on their weddng day. How they said their vows to each other with love filled eyes. Unlike her, she was unexplainably very jealous of this younger woman, who seemed to be about to replace her in Anselem's heart. She had stayed to watch them talk and laugh together and when she could bear it no more, she had left the hotel. Of course she had thought they had sex which would ordinarily be no problem for her, but this case was different. However, she had not stayed till the very end, and had no idea that the two did not enter a room. What is more, Nneka could of course not hear the conversation between the two, and therefore assumed that each laughter between them was a sign of more bonding. As she lay in bed thinking of all she saw tonight, Nneka realized that she was toturing herself.
"Stop doing this to yourself N.K" she cautioned herself "You are only hurting yourself. You are a strong independent woman who can do whatever she wants, so do not let any man bring you down" Even as she said those word to herself, she believed it less and less. She finally decided to put herself to good use and quit behaving like a love struck teenager. She thought of Emeka who had broken up with Chioma. She had not yet done anything about it, and she knew she needed to. Things seemed not been going the way she wanted and she needed at least one thing in her life to go well. Emeka had to marry Chioma no matter what he said. She decided to take charge of the situation, and dialed Chioma's number.

Chioma was in her room doing what she had been doing every waking minute since she and Emeka had broken up – Stalk his social media. She knew she was at fault, by cheating on him and deserved what she had gotten, but she would do anything to get him back. Emeka had not picked any of her calls, and after she had left so many voicemails he had finally blocked her number. Harsh, but she knew she still deserved it. Heck she kept calling him every single moment she was not stalking him on social media. Emeka did not want her back from the looks of it, but she did not want to give up. She had Nneka backing her, and she knew Emeka's mum was not someone to mess with and that gave her little hope. Just then, her phone rang and it was Nneka
"Good evening ma" Chioma said
"Evening my dear. How are you doing"
"I am fine ma. And you"
"I am doing well. Chibaby (which is what she usually called Chioma), I would like you to do something for me" Nneka said on her end of the phone
"What is it ma" Chioma asked
"I would love you to come and stay with us for some time. Maybe 3 weeks or more"
"Stay with you ma? How? You mean in your house?"
"Yes my dear. You would love to have Emeka back won't you?"
"Of course ma" Chioma quickly replied
"Well I you are home and he comes home, which I will make sure of and sees you, you both might be able to work things out" Nneka explained
"Alright ma. I will most definitely be there tomorrow. I just have to pack my things" Chioma replied. She and Nneka spoke some more, and then said their goodnights. Happy that Nneka was still on her side, Chioma began packing up immediately they ended the call. She lived alone in her apartment so there would be no problem staying over in Emeka's house. And even if she lived with her parents, she would have made up some excuse to still go, as she would do whatever it took to have her ex back.
