As soon as Emeka got off the phone with his mum, he began thinking of ways to inform Ngozi to accompany him to his parents' house. Would she think it was too soon? Would she get freaked out? A million thoughts ran across Emeka's mind. After a while he decided there was nothing he could really do about it, and decided to tell Ngozi up front.
He dialled her number and she picked within few seconds.
"Hey babe, whatsup" Ngozi began
"I am alright"
"No you are not. What is it" Ngozi asked
"Um, well I really don't know how to say this." Emeka began
"How to say what?"
"Please do not be angry with me....."
"Just say it babe. You are scaring me." Ngozi cut in.
"Okay, will you go with me to my parent's house?" Emeka finally asked
"To your what....."
"Before you say no babe, please just consider it." Emeka interrupted.
"I was not going to say no nkem. I was just shocked that's all." Ngozi said.
"So is that a yes?"
"Sure love. Anything for you. Now any more favors you would like me to do for you?"
"Of course. Blow me a kiss" Emeka said laughing
"I will give you one when we see." Ngozi said smiling.
The two talked about other things including their travel plans and in few minutes they said goodbye.

I was lying on my bed, thinking of Emeka's travel proposal when my phone rang. It was him, the one my heart beats for. I smiled and answered the call and noticed that he sounded a bit nervous. I wondered why and then various thoughts began running through my mind. Was he already cheating? Did he want to go back to his very sexy ex? I knew I was being ridiculous and pushed the thoughts out of my mind. I asked him what he was, and breathed a sigh of relief when he informed me he wanted me to accompany him to his parents house. This even implied that he was serious about me! I was excited but scared and wasted no time in saying a yes. We talked some more and then ended our conversation. As soon as the call ended, I began panicking. I knew Emeka's family was rich. Heck he was the managing director of where I worked so they must be swimming in millions. I had no fancy clothes except the ones my friend Amara had given me. I was glad I had not yet sold them, and I quickly brought them out. I decided that I was not going to take any of my clothes but only the ones Amara had given me. There were nice trousers and fancy bum shorts which I could wear while in the house. There were also cute dresses for a date if Emeka wanted us to go on one while in his house. At this point I was really grateful to my friend as she seemed to have foreseen the future. Although we were going to his home in 3 days, I packed all I needed immediately. Emeka and I had already decided that he was going to pick me up from the office so I would not be stressed trying to find the address on my own.
**********
The days had gone by quickly and that without any drama. Things were going fine between Emeka and I. He was as loving as ever and I had fallen deeply for him. He gave me tips on how to behave around his mum. The more he told me about her, the more I got scared. From everything Emeka told me, his mum sounded like someone I would not like. She sounded condescending and I was not ready for any drama. However my ever loving boyfriend assured me that he was going to be there for me no matter what. He informed me that the only reason his mum would not like me was because she wanted him to still be with his ex.
It was the D-day finally, and Emeka had come to my office to take me. As soon as he came in, we embraced each other and kissed for God knows how long.
"You look beautiful nkem." Emeka said
"Well, what can I say? I am beautiful" I replied smiling sheepishly
"Ready to come see my home?" Emeka asked
"Well......" I began
"It's fine sweetheart. I will be there. Just remember everything I told you. If my mum says anything mean to you, try not to get upset. She is only angry that I broke up with Chioma" He interrupted.
"But why is she that upset? Does that mean you cannot marry any other person except Chioma?" I asked
"Well the thing is, she is interested in .." Emeka began but stopped.
"Interested in what babe? Go on"
Emeka had no idea how to tell Ngozi that his mum wanted him to marry Chioma because she was from a wealthy family. This would imply that he knew Ngozi was not from one and he did not want material wealth to come between them.
"Well she just knows her parents really well" Emeka lied
"Okay babe. Come on let's go." I replied not wanting to push the conversation further as he seemed to be uncomfortable with it.
Emeka helped me carry my luggage to the car and we drove off. We had driven for close to an hour, and I was about to doze off when he said "We are almost there baby. Less than 10 minutes more."
I checked the surrounding and it appeared we were in an estate. Beautiful was an understatement in describing it. I was short of words. I knew Emeka was rich but I had no idea he was this rich. As several thoughts went through my mind, I had no idea we had finally stopped and Emeka was horning. In few seconds, a man i presumed to be his gateman opened the gate, and I opened my mouth in awe. His house was a mansion, no more no less. I quickly closed my mouth and cautioned myself to behave. With what Emeka told me about his mum, if I acted like I was not used to this kind of life she would degrade me.
Everything seemed to be moving quickly and before I knew what was happening Emeka had parked the car and was taking my luggage out. His gateman was greeting him and I think he mumbled something to me too.
"Good evening Adamu. How everything dey?"
"Everything dey fine oga. We dey wait you since?" Adamu replied
"We? Who be we" Emeka asked
"Your mama, papa and aunty Chioma" Adamu replied and a knot tied in my stomach.
Emeka looked at me and saw my eyes were filled with fear. "It will be alright" he said and took my hands. He gave Adamu my luggage and instructed him to bring it into the house. Emeka led the way still holding me, and I followed. We entered the sitting room and everyone was there.
"Hi mum, Hi dad" Emeka said as he greeted his parents. He hugged them and motioned for me to come too. However, I was a bit scared and I could not raise my face to look at them. Emeka then came to me and whispered some sweet words into my ears. He told me everything was going to be alright. After he did that, I gathered some courage and told myself that everything was alright and I could say hi to everyone.
However, when I looked up, I was shocked beyond words. Standing there right in front of me was Andz or rather Anselem as he later told me was his name, who was also Emeka's dad.
