Chapter 13
As Emeka left the Ngozi's office, he wondered what the problem was. She had seemed really happy when he had given her the plane ticket, excited even but after he gave her the permission letter from her boss, she seemed subdued. He wondered why. Was she so scared of her boss? Was there anything transpiring between the two of them? Was she worried about losing her job? And if that was the case, why? Or was there something else going on? He wondered if she was having any sort of problem at her office. Oh well he thought. Women, who understood them? He had never really been able to comprehend Chioma fully. It seemed in her eyes that whatever he did was wrong. He truly hoped Ngozi was not like that and that it was something else bothering her. He wanted to make her feel special, and wanted to let her know she was the only one that mattered to him. He only hoped he was not going about it the wrong way. An incoming call disrupted him from his thoughts. He checked his phone, and it was his mum so he picked up.
"Emy boy how are you" she began
Emeka rolled his eyes and wondered what his mum wanted this time. She called him Emy boy when she was about to ask for a favor.
"What do you want this time mum" he asked
"Who said I wanted anything?" Nneka asked from over the phone
"Mum it is fine just go ahead and tell me what you want"
"So I cannot call my son again without being accused of wanting something?' Nneka asked sounding sad and offended.
"No mum, I was just kidding." Emeka said
"Well it's fine then since you obviously do not want to talk to me." Nneka said sounding really sad
"No mum God I am sorry, really I am. What do you want? Just tell me and I will do it
"Well I have missed you a lot Emy. You never came home after your fight with your dad. You never told me what the problem was. You just walked out on me. You never tell me anything again emy. How did we get to this stage? You used to tell me everything going on in your life. I used to know what your next line of actions were. What happened Emy? My boy what happened? Do you not value me anymore?" Ngozi asked sniffing
Emeka felt really bad and said "Okay mum, I will be back whenever you want me to. Of course I value you mum and I love you. Just tell me when you want me back, and I will be back"
"How about in two or three day? I have really missed you my boy. Your dad has too. You can come home in three days." Nneka said, happy that she had guilted Emeka into making a decision she was most certainly sure he would not have made ordinarily.
"Okay mum, I will be coming with my girlfriend" Emeka said
"Your what" Nneka asked "When did you get a girlfriend"
"Not long ago mum. I have to get back to work" Emeka said as he did not want his mum to begin interrogating him. He ended the call before she could say another word. Well, part one was over he thought. He only had to tell Ngozi to accompany him to meet his parents and that would be all.

As soon as Nneka got off the phone with her son, she began pacing round and round the sitting room while Chioma watched her. When she could not take it anymore, she asked
"Ma is Emeka coming home?"
"Yes my dear, yes he is"
"What then is the problem" Chioma asked
"Well he has a new girlfriend" Nneka said deciding she might as well break the news to Chioma
"What!! How ma? It has been only few days over a month we broke up. How did he find someone that quick" Chioma asked
"I have no idea how my dear. But please do calm down." Nneka said patting Chioma on the back "This only means you have more work to do"
"How ma" Chioma asked
"Oh. Nothing much. You only have to seduce my son all over again." Nneka smiled, and left the sitting room to have a drink
