"Because first of all, I like to help those who need it and I am unable to have children." Demi said tears streaming down her face looking at Winter. When Demi was silent for another few minutes, Winter decided to tell her about my background.
"When I was 3 years old, my father got tired of me and my mom, he started to fight with my mom, hitting her and he also started to push me around, he often wanted to sleep with me, if you get what I mean. But my mom often took my place and defended me. When I was 7 years old, my mom got pregnant, but my dad that night when he found out was so drunk that he ended up beating my mom up so much that the baby died. One night, he took me out on a drive, he ended up getting us in an accident, he broke my collar bone, my leg, and my rib. He turned out fine. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks in a coma and then in the hospital for another 2 weeks to recover. He was in prison until I turned 12 years old. Ever since then, my father beat me up and my mom, he came home drunk every night, I ran away at least once a week to get away from him. The only way that I was ever allowed to eat was if I ran away and got myself some, he would never let me have friends over, but he did let me go to school, eventually he kicked my mom and I out and that is how I am now here." said Winter.
"Oh, Winter, why did you never tell anyone?" asked Demi.
"My father always said that he would beat me up, and I would never wake up. But now that he is dead, I can tell those whom I trust and not be too worried, except for the friends that he has left, but he does know where I am."
"Well, I say you should go and sleep."
"Okay Demi. Night." said Winter, immediately falling asleep.
When I went outside the room, I collapsed in Wilmer's arms, shaking from the tears and the hurt that Winter had to go through, "Oh, Wilmer, we need to treat her as if she is our real daughter, we can't let anyone not make her trust us, she needs to be loved by someone in her life."
