It's been two days and still no sign of Travis or Flower. The boys are worried, they keep asking for their mommy and daddy.
I have no clue what to tell them.
People have began looting in town, its just a matter of time till they start on other houses in the area. Its no longer safe to stay here. I would love to wait a little longer to see if Travis or Flower shows up, but I know I can't. My first priority must be the boys safety at all times. Its how Travis would have wanted it.
Quickly I pack the boys a bag a piece. Just the basics really.
A set of clothes, a few toys, light jacket and various snacks with a small child size bottle of water.
I didn't want their bag to be to heavy, so their extra clothes and shoes are in my bags along with more food for all of us, and sleeping bags.
Luckily Travis still hunted, I also packed a separate bag with ammo for a 45 caliber, 22 rifle, and grandfathers .380. Along with the specialty made throwing knife set of 50 knives in a Kevlar vest, a nice machete with wet stone.
I packed as much as I could in the back of my truck. I wanted to give us a good chance. I know I will have to carry most of it by foot once we reached the mountain. But it will be well worth it, just in case grandfather fell behind on his duties.
Its the start of the third day and still no sign, its time to go.
I buckle the boys into the seat next to me, I hope they are ok. That was my last thought as I pulled out of the drive.
We have been driving for hours with no sign of another person in sight for miles, but then again I did purposely took every country road I could just to avoid entering any big towns or cities. I figured the lower the population the better off we will be.
Two days of constant travel, only stopping long enough to syphon some gas every now and then.
When we finally reached the Weeping Mountain, I followed a old trail road. I drove up that till me were about to the summit, next to an old cabin that was falling down around its frame. Parking the truck, I got the boys on a makeshift sled along with some of the supplies and began to walk steadily up the mountain.
I wasn't looking forward to the hike ahead of me. But I will do what I must to keep Jack and Ken alive if its the last thing I do.
