TIME SKIP

Its been four years since the world decide to take a shit, I kept my word of honor and have been keeping the boys safe as can be. We are surviving, yes its rough but we are doing it. Just one day at a time, that's all we can ask for now days.

For the first year I expected more people to come, knowing grandfather was diligent in his teaching of the old ways.

But as days went on and the seasons began to change, I began to realize that no others were coming. I began to lose hope of seeing another person other then my boys alive.

But one night, as the snow began to heavily fall to the ground, and the wind howling as it ripped the sound for your lips. I had ventured out to hunt and was returning with two plump rabbits and a small buck, when I herd crying on the wind.

I was unsure of the direction it was coming from, but I followed the sound as best as I could. I searched for hours till I finally found the source of the sound.

I was shocked to see and elderly lady, her hair was so grey it was almost white, blending well with the falling snow. She lay there close to the steam, not a few hundred yards from the cave. She was clutching a bundle in her arms, keeping it warm with her body heat.

When I knelt down to her side, she stirred and opened her old weary eyes and stared at me, blinking several times to make sure I was really there. Reaching out with a shaky had she placed it on my cold cheek.

Forcing a small smile in her weary state she spoke, her voice was gravely, "Please help us. I don't care for myself but my grandchildren need to survive. Please they are only six months old."

I didn't know what to do but take them to the cave with me. Once there I had her and the babies settled in next to the fire covering them with furs.

Jack and Ken were a big help with caring for the three little boys that had fallen in our lap. They would care for them as I did the same for their grandmother.

Unfortunately, she passed leaving the three nameless little boys in my soul care. It was her passing that let me know we were all infected. I was shocked by this discovery.

I had taken her body out to burry when, she came back, unknowingly to me. If it hadn't been for a she wolf, I would have been a goner and those boys would be on their own.

Since that time the she wolf has been by my side, she has helped me with the boys, especially the three youngest.

The she wolf who I dubbed White Fang, would nurse the boys until they could eat more solid foods.

I ended up naming the three boys the red head Renji, Blonde Kenji, and the brunet Neji.

Today I was out, down the mountain, hunting for some fresh game. We were pretty well off with the basics, but we needed protein if we wanted to survive the coming winter. The weather has been getting colder. I'd say it was late September early October.

So I really needed to get my ass in gear and stock up on our provisions.

So far today has been a good day. I found us a nice size buck.

The only thing is I have to haul it up the dame mountain by myself, I won't let the boys come this far down. If it was closer to the cave then I would have no problem.

But with being half way down the mountain, there is all kinds of dangers we could encounter, from both the dead and the living, and any hungry critters wondering around.

I was slowing making my way back up the mountain, I was on a slight ridge above the old cabin, that I first parted at. Looking down I saw a group of people.

And man they did not sound to damn happy at that moment in time.

Stepping back from the ridge line, I could still see them and hear them but they could not see me.

They were a fairly large group, the biggest I've seen in the longest time. I wonder what they were doing this far up.

The group was getting louder and louder in their protests, seams like someone fucked up big time.

At one point, some lady started yelling at a man in a angel wing vest, with a crossbow slung over his shoulder.

"This is your damn fault, if we hadn't followed your fucking ass, we would still be safe, but no we had to listen to some redneck piece of shit like you. Thanks a lot you just killed us all."

As she started to scream, the sounds of a baby could be herd. As I looked closer I notice a young blond haired girl no more then 17 or 18 holding the baby, along with two other kids about 12 and 13.

I slowly began to step out of the cover from the trees, I know I shouldn't but I can not leave children out here to try and survive, that would be like leaving my boys out here, I just couldn't do it not when I had a place they all could stay.
