"Ah, are you just confirming or are you seriously skeptical?"
Iwaizumi was quiet for a moment before answering.
"Both, probably."
Oikawa locked eyes with him, then closing them trying to compose himself.
"Can it wait?"
Another pause, a tension slowly rising between the two.
"Not really."
The brunette looked down at his tea, clutching it tightly for warmth. Though his heart rate was beating so fast it almost made him lose his breath. Panic, he hated panic. Always making him feel out of control. He took a sip of the tea, glanced away from the man sitting before him and back at him.
I guess he does have a right to be unsure, honestly though, to spring this up on him all of a sudden...
Oikawa stood and walked toward his dresser and placed the mug on it. He still felt dizzy and a little stuffy. Maybe he's getting sick. Or it's the intense gaze that glared at the corner of his peripheral vision.
"I'm sure enough to say that I have feelings for you...", the brunette said feeling a little self conscious as the gaze only intensified.
Well... maybe...?
When he turned to fully face the other, he didn't seem dissatisfied, nor angry or anything like that. Instead, he smiled softly and stood.
"I never said I'd make you love me right off the bat.", he sighed as he stepped toward the other. Oikawa flinched as the other cuffed his hands around his cheeks, and hated himself for doing that when a tint of amusement flared in Iwaizumi's green eyes. He only got closer, close enough that the fluffy haired brunette thought they'd even kiss.
"I hate when you do that."
"Do what?"
"Monologue and shit then make such an earnest reply I get all flustered.", Oikawa frowned.
"You're flustered?", Iwaizumi's eyes darted around the other's face and noticed his cheeks and ears were a little pink. His mouth then formed in an 'o'.
"Good.", he sighed as he slid his arms on Oikawa's shoulders then leaned his head forward and rested it on the crook of the brunette's neck.
It's fine like this for now.
But how long till my patience expires...
~
Oikawa didn't know if he should have felt relieved or disappointed when Iwaizumi offered to sleep on the floor then woke up earlier than the other had. He woke up alone, the light filtering in through a cloudy, Saturday morning.
He laid there for a while, thinking about the other man's words prior.
"Do you really like me?"
Hell if I could understand, these emotions springing on me all of a sudden.
"I hate making myself excuses.", He muttered to himself as he sat up.
The now messy haired brunette, went down the stairs sluggishly. He lifted his face when the scent of food finally wafted into his nose.
"What smells good?", Oikawa said, entering the kitchen to see how his mother appeared to be teaching Iwaizumi how to fillet a fish.
The brown eyed man almost burst out laughing when he saw Iwaizumi in a pastel pink apron tied on him with a very serious face, intent on listening to Momma Oikawa's instructions.
He cleared his throat to kill the laughter stuck in it, trying to contort his face to normal,"I mean, uh, what's good?", He said, the corners of his mouth twitching.
Iwaizumi flinched when he heard the other man's voice and quickly turned around. His green eyes widened before they narrowed. He pointed at Oikawa with his knife that was held in his hand.
"Ignore this.",he said dangerously.
Iwaizumi probably didn't mean to intimidate him but with the knife it was a sturdy x2 on the effect. But the growing blush on his face did help.
"Haha, alright I'll be in the living room...", Oikawa said nervously Still, the image of Iwaizumi in a pink apron seemed extremely funny. It was so uncharacteristically cute in Oikawa's opinion and he could barely suppress the smile as he leaned against the wall outside the kitchen, covering his face.
~
Oikawa was watching a really cheesy drama, when he heard a familiar male voice call his name from behind him
"Ah, Iwa-Cha--", he turned around to grin at the other when a cloth was thrown at his face. He wasn't able to dodge it and flinched as it smack his face.
Oikawa pulled it off, noticing it was the pink apron Iwaizumi was wearing prior. He looked up and saw the other's expression with a mix of embarrassment and firm.
"Breakfast's ready.", He grumbled.
The brunette put on his airs and grinned, raising the apron to his nose. Smells like him... When Oikawa realized what he just (creepily) thought, he jumped off the couch at it with a shocked expression. Yep, he scared himself with his own thoughts.
"You okay, Oikawa?", Iwaizumi said, raising an eyebrow. The fluffy haired brunette looked up, a little flustered, then cleared his throat as he stood."I'm fine, just hungry and tired," He turned around and winked,"darling~"
The other male simply stared at him with a deadpan. He's getting carried away all of a sudden? He furrowed his eyebrows after the other, gaze soon turning into a hard stare. As if that would reveal Toru's inner thoughts. I promised I'd be patient... that's just what I'll have to do.
~
"Thank you for the food.", momma Oikawa said. The son hesitantly picked at the egg, moving out the onions. He was not successful at this since his mother caught sight and flicked him on the neck.
"Eat all of it! Iwaizumi-kun was nice enough to help me in the kitchen today."
"Oh how nice, thank you Iwa-chan.", He said, bowing his head.
"EAT.", His mother promptly stated.
"Yes ma'am."
"Don't call me ma'am."He picked up some of the cooked fish and egg. The surprisingly good combination left him content.
"Wow, that's good.", He murmured.
"I'd explain how I got the flavor but then we'd be doing a 'Food Wars' montage and everything.""Ok, it's not thaaaat good, but it's good.", Oikawa said a little more cheekily. Iwaizumi rolled his eyes.
"Shut up and enjoy it. Hurry too, we're heading out today."Oikawa raised an eyebrow then looked at his mother. She just gave a smile that was probably masking some other emotion. He looked back towards Iwaizumi who was now entertained by his food.
I have a mixed feeling about this...
~
The air felt cool against Oikawa's warm skin. You know, he found it refreshing when he went out but now he felt as if he was freezing his balls off.
"Hey, where are we actually going?", He mumbled, shuffling after his fri- lover now at least.
"To a dark mysterious ally where nobody can hear you scream or cry for help."
The brunette froze then deadpanned.
"That's not funny Iwa-chan..."
"Who said I was trying to be funny?"
"I-IWA-CHAN?!"Iwaizumi laughed with humor. Oikawa huffed and slapped the other by the back. That would have been painful from a setter like him but Iwa here is of equal caliber or a little more.
The green eyed man grinned and looked back towards Oikawa.
"To-""Iwaizumi-kun?",A feminine voice interrupted. Once his brown eyes landed on the new figure...
Yeah, that's where it all ran downhill from there.
