"You can't have children." The doctor told AprilBlueland who clutched onto her husband's hand.
"Why?" She asked, her voice almost muffled as she asked.
"As we have looked, it seems just by birth defect that you have become infertile." The doctor said, her eyes were filled with pity for the young couple.
"So my wife and I will never have children?" My husband David asks, he had always wanted a daughter or son.
"Adoption is an option, but your wife will never be able to carry one of her own." The doctor said, leaving the young couple to cry in silence.
"How do we tell our family's?" April cried, her mother would be devastated to find out this.
"Sweety don't think of them right now." David said, whispering loving words into his wife's ear who was too worried about everyone else than her own pain.
"But they were so excited." She sobbed, she was excited too because she had waited so long to have a baby.
"We can adopt honey." He said, she sobbed slightly but nodded.
"I want a child David, he/she will be my child even if we can't carry one of our own." April said, her heart was too big for her chest.
"Of course honey, we will start right away." David replied, happy his wife still wanted to have kids even if they weren't their own.
"I love you David." April said, as they exited the doctors room.
"I love you too April." David replied, holding her hand tightly.
"July 16th 2046"
"Why can't we have a child!" April yelled, she was angry.
"Honey calm down." David tried, it had been 2 years since and 5 adoption had failed to go through.
"I don't understand, we were accepted right up until the last day then the families decided they wanted their child?" April sobbed, feeling the disappointment sting in her chest.
"With the new laws, and the magic realm revealing itself it's tough honey." David replied.
The world was much different, magic actually existed to the humans now. From werewolves to mermaids, to shifters and more there was no end to the difference in the world now. Laws had become different, adoption agencies has both human and magic born children needing homes and April and David had tried adopting any child that was whiling to be theirs.
