"Where to first?" She asked as we stepped out of the car. We slammed the doors and stepped onto the sidewalk.

"I'm hungry," I said, eyeballing Soulshine.

"I wonder," she said sarcastically and pulled me into the restaurant.

We were immediately taken to a booth on the first floor. We sat down across from each other and were handed out menus. We both got water and decided to share a pepperoni pizza.

After lunch, which was very good, we stepped outside onto the sidewalk and looked around.

"What now?" She asked.

I slipped my hand into hers and tangled our fingers together.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked.

"I don't know, somewhere fun," she shrugged.

"Okay," I smiled and pulled her in the direction of the Centennial Park.

We had to walk quite a bit, but it was worth it. We arrived at the entrance of the park and she gazed at the Parthenon.

"Why did you bring me here? This isn't fun, this is beautiful!" She joked and slapped my chest.

"It's fun when you're with me," I winked and pulled her toward the flower gardens.

"I'm serious, how are you going to make this fun?" She laughed and spun on one foot to take in all the colors.

I let go of her hand while she was looking around, slipping out of her view. I quietly ran and hid behind a tree.

"Zayn?" She called, barely above a whisper.

"Zayn?"

I stifled a laugh and slipped farther away from her.

I heard her footsteps grow closer and closer, causing me to slump farther behind the tree.

"Zayn!" She called, much louder this time.

I looked around the corner and saw the tip of her Keds come into view. I pulled my head back and walked around the tree.

There was a line of trees separating Payton and I. I walked along the edge, going at a faster pace than her. I finally came to the corner, stopping briefly, before continuing quietly. She was walking slowly, keeping an eye out for me. I slipped my hand into hers and she jumped, letting out a loud shriek. She turned around and glared at me.

"Zayn Jawaad!"

"Please don't use my middle name," I groaned.

"I cannot believe you did that! That was not funny!" She said, biting her lip to suppress a smile.

"Yes, it was," I said, pulling her towards me and slipping my other hand around her waist.

"Okay, it was kind of funny. But I'm still mad at you for scaring the living shit out of me!" She scolded. I pecked her lips and then pulled my body away from hers.

I held onto her hand, bringing our entwined limbs above us. I spun her around a couple times before bringing her back into my arms.

~~

A couple hours later and we were laying on the plush grass of the park, looking at the sky. She was curled up into my side and our hands were joined on my chest.

"Thank you," she mumbled.

"For what?"

"Bringing me here, doing this." She shrugged. "I had fun."

I kissed her crown and replied. "I did, too."

Another five minutes of silence passed.

"We should go," she said, standing up.

I nodded and we began the long walk back to the car.

~~

She was parked in my driveway, waiting for me to get out. I was trying to stall, wanting to enjoy my time with her as much as I could. I didn't know when something was going to come along that would break us up, but I hoped it wouldn't. I really enjoyed spending time with her. She made me so happy. I didn't have to worry about anything when I was with her.

"Zayn, you need to go," she laughed.

"Alright, alright," I sighed. I leaned over to kiss her one more time before stepping out of the car. She honked at me, causing me to jump and turn around. She just waved at me and pulled out of my driveway.

It's so short, but it's of importance. Deal with it. Things really take off next chapter. This book is also coming to an end. :( not for a few more chapters though, but we are more than halfway through.
