What teenage girl can say that they went to school one day and had their cafeteria completely ambushed by a pack of supernatural red-eyed, hungry looking werewolves? Well if you draw giant circle and that draw a microscopic circle in the middle of it, which would be me. My life has turned into a whirlpool of utter chaos, and here I am, standing in the pit of it.
"We need to get them out of here." I hear Scott say.
"How?" Boyd asks.
"Scott look at them." Isaac says.
We all look at them. My eyes move through every single one of them and they seem to get scarier one by one.
"What is it Isaac?" Scott asks.
"They are all staring in one direction. Don't you see?"
What is he-
Me. They are all staring at me. Every time I look at one of them, I make direct eye contact. And it never breaks. Their intense glares, and their hungry eyes, all on me.
"Vanessa," Scott says slowly. "I want you to take a slight step to the left."
My mind and stomach do a complete backflip. Is he crazy? What if they lunge at me and try to rip my throat out? What if this is the day I die? Stop it Vanessa. Get your shit together. One little step isn’t going to completely kill you.
I stake a breath and step. Sure enough, each set of eyes shift simultaneously with me.
"Now take a step back." Scott orders.
I take a step back and the eyes follow me again. They don’t move. They just stand there like statues. I can't even tell if they're breathing or not. The only actual signs of life coming from them are their moving eyes and that’s it.
"But they aren’t attacking." Boyd states.
"Well I'm not going to stand around and wait for them too. We need to get her out of here, now." Scott states. I slowly nod my head. "Ok, when I say go, Allison, Lydia, Stiles, and Malia run with her to the parking lot. Get in Stiles car and drive off while the rest of us fend them off."
"Or we can just give them to her. She's the one they want." Malia suggests.
I feel my blood boiling again by the stupid sound of her stupid voice. My fear is quickly turning into anger. Even in the mix of dangers, knowing of her mere existence drives me to the depths of insanity.
They move. The alphas, they move. And not just move, but they flail maddeningly; like dogs when they hear high-pitched sounds. Hands on heads as if someone is trying to kill them with noise that only they can hear. Pain is clear as day over all of their faces; distorted looks of agony. Howling; they howl in the air that pierces the last bit of decent hearing left from Lydia's scream.
"Go!" Scott yells.
I don't waste even a second before I turn around and dash towards the door. I don't look back. I put every ounce of energy I have into my legs and bound out of the cafeteria, my mini group following closely behind. As we dip and dive through the numerous hallways of the school, I hear more growling behind me; snarls and growls mix with the screams of terrorized teenagers. What in the world is even going to happen to them? They could all die because of me. Hundreds of people ripped to shreds because of me and here I am running away like a coward to save myself.
I stop, not even realizing that we are finally outside in the parking lot.
"Vanessa what are you doing? Let’s go!" Lydia yells at me.
"You guys go if you want. But I'm staying here." I know what I'm thinking as to be crazy, but I don't care. "I'm staying here."
"Are you crazy?! You could get killed here." Sties exclaims.
