Eavesdropping?

Tomika's P.O.V

Its Thursday morning and I'm so glad right now. I only have today then Friday and Im done for the week. Yippee. Oh my goodness. I almost forgot about the presentation tomorrow. I used to have stage fright when I was younger and Mr. Finn helped me get over it. But now, singing in front of a crowd in which the person I'm singing for is in. I'm going to end up freezing and making a giant fool of myself. Ugh, I hate my life.

I had been lying in bed for about 30 minutes since I woke up. Now Im going to be late, again. Like Mr. Finn cares anyway. He sure is no ordinary substitute teacher. After about an eternity, I finally got up and took a nice long shower. I was enjoying the hot water soo much, it felt like I had been in there for an hour, which was correct. My awesome shower was ruined when the water suddenly turned cold. I shivered and turned it off. This is the worst morning ever. 

I got out of the shower and got dressed. While I was putting on my uniform, I could just smell the sizzling bacon from the kitchen. My mom must have made her special breakfast today. Yay me! I did my hair back in my signature curls and headed downstairs. I was so prepared to devour that bacon. I reached the bottom of the stairs and looked around the kitchen for my food. My mom was sitting in our dining room eating her own.

"Hey Mom, where's mine?" I asked. She better have made me some. She looked up confused. "Huh? What? Oh...um...I might have only made some for myself. Your late anyway. You have no time to eat." She said. How dare that woman not make me breakfast when she knows how much I love food. 

"How dare you mother." I said dramatically and my mom and I both burst out laughing. "Just kidding, I love you mom." I kissed my mom on the cheek and grabbed my skateboard. "Better get going now, Tomika. Your more than an hour late." My mom reminded me and I bolted out the door.

Halfway there I jumped on my skateboard. When I got there, there was nobody outside. Not that I'm surprised. I'm late and everyone is already in class. I opened the door and ran to Mr. Finn's classroom. I opened the door to reveal everyone sitting down while Mr. Finn was talking to them.

"And that my class is how you find equivalent fractions." Mr. Finn said and turned to look at the door. "Wait, your not Principal Mullins!" He said. "Of course I'm not." I said and took my seat. "Anyway, lets get to the more relevant topic. Why are you late Tomiks?" Summer asked me.

"I woke up 30 minutes late, took an hour long shower and yeah. I'm late." I said matter-of-factly. They all nod in understanding. "Now that that is taken care of, lets get back our original topic. We were discussing tomorrow's presentations." Mr. Finn said and I felt a whirl in my stomach. I just remembered I haven't practiced all week except with Zack on Monday. I have to present tomorrow and I'm not even prepared. Okay, note to self, when I get home, practice till I can't practice anymore.

"Hope you have all invited the person your singing for to the class. Ms. Mullins actual approves of this lesson because I explained to her it's about expressing feelings through music and she approves and is actually coming to watch." Mr. Finn said. Oh no, now Ms. Mullins will see me have a meltdown. Just my luck. 

"So for the remaining time of class, you can partner up and practice your song or practice alone." Mr. Finn said. Everyone got up and paired up with one another. Summer went to practice with Freddy, and Lawrence and Zack were partners. I just stayed in my seat. I didn't feel like it. Although I need all the practice I could get, I don't feel like it just now. I put my head down on my desk and closed my eyes. Might as well sleep, right?

Suddenly I feel someone tap my shoulder. I look up to see Zack.

Zack's P.O.V

I wonder why Tomika slept in today. She never does that. Its not my business is it? Mr. Finn has just told us to partner up and Lawrence come up to me asking to be my partner. I really wanted to ask Tomika but I cant just say no to Lawrence. Guess I'll just be his partner. Summer didn't even go with Tomika though. I notice Tomika was just sitting at her desk with her head down. I wonder whats going on with her.
