"So...the surprise will be cake? Did you buy a cake?" I ask as walk down a small set of stairs and I settle myself down on a chair in the kitchen.

Beside the kitchen was a small library under the staircase ascending to the rooms. The floor was tiled with bricks and stone, the ceiling matched it, too. A rug clothed the space around the empty chairs - awaiting a reader to sit down. There were lights dangling from the ceiling and a platform to the highest bookshelf. The kitchen, however, was less fancier. No rugs, no platforms nor dangling lights. It looked like an ordinary kitchen...I think? Was my old kitchen like this? I brush my hand against the gem stuck in my chest, unconsciously. And what is this? Did I always have this?

"Nope! But I do know how to make one! Well...mostly." Kurt replies, snapping me out of my fantasies. I put my hand down and dismiss every thought I just had.

"And you'll burn down the house?" I scoff, showing a hint of sarcasm. For a moment, I kinda felt a chilling sensation buzz through my body. "Look who's talking!" Kurt laughs. I really did not get why.

"What does that mean?" I tilt my head and Kurt suddenly widens his eyes and looks away. "Erm...n-nothing." He says, walking to the library for a book.

(Kurt's PoV)

Goddammit, Valhart. She doesn't know anything about what happened to her and don't make her remember. She's a hunter now.

I shake my head as I walk towards the food section of our library. We had like every kind of book here like one for personal reading, cooking and baking, fighting, creatures and etc.

I hear footsteps from the staircase just above the library and I decide to take a little peek at who it was. I tilt my head to see Aloise clinging on to Maldwell, laughing. "Were your errands dealt with?" Maldwell asks as he was being pushed up the ramp. Aloise catches sight of me and scowls at (Y/n) then me. It was as if she was telling me to not be with (Y/n) and just kill her already. Aloise ends up being silent and Maldwell looks at her, worried. "Aloise?" He snaps his fingers in front of her face and her eyes snap open. "Oh. I'm sorry, I got distracted." She smiles as she continues to push him upstairs.

I shrug off the awkward moment and continue to look for a book. Every book here was taken care of by our bookworm, Hadley, and his assistant, Suri - who mostly takes care of the books about nature, gardening and wildlife.

When I got a hold of the book I needed, I began to flip through its pages. "Cakes, cakes, cakes." I utter as I start walking back to (Y/n). "Eggs, flour, sugar, milk, yada, yada." I sigh as I got lazy to read everything else. "I can do this." I grin as I walk towards (Y/n) to give her the book then I head to get the ingredients. "You won't be needing this?" (Y/n) asks, holding up the book in the air.

"The recipe sounds familiar to me, I can do it!" I state, prideful about my baking skills; if only I had practiced more in the past. I grab the ingredients and placed it on the counter as I see (Y/n)'s nose in the book and I chuckle. "Watch and learn," I piled the dry ingredients in a large bowl and immediately mixed in the wet ingredients, forgetting I had to separate them first. " This will be the best cake you have ever eaten!"

(Y/n) chuckles as she watches me pour the batter in a round pan and I immediately suspect that I have forgotten something, I just don't know what. "What is it?" I smile at her. "Oh, nothing. I'm pretty sure you'd love to have cake on a baking pan." She giggles flipping a page on the book. I put the pan in the oven and I chuckle as I twist the knob to 45 minutes, that sounds right. "What does that mean?"

"You'll see." She sings and leans against the palm of her hand. "Is it frosting time yet?" I gulp. I have never worked with frosting before. "Well, master baker?" She taunts, seeming to see right through me. "U-Uh..." I stammer. "Or do you not know how to make frosting?" I start to sweat and kept thinking for an excuse. I tried asking Cupid to look in the book but she wouldn't respond. "Well, you know, it's been so long since I baked! Maybe I could make an exception to look in the book."
