"Cupid, we need to talk." Kurt Valhart stated as soon as he put on a shirt and closed the door to his room. "Apparently." The cupid was now a pale pink and had lesser feathers on her wings, revealing some of its structure inside - brittle bones.

"You nearly broke our bond. Back in the forest, you almost left me for dead. We had a deal-" Kurt scolded, looking at the angel who stared outside his window, crossing her arms

"I stand by my host ensuring his safety and if I fail, I am doomed to rot in Limbo." Her voice seemed weak as she stated their bond. "I did not forget, Kurt Valhart." She faced him, her saddened eyes examining her host and what he has become. She compared the fighting spirit of Kurt from when she first met him to who stands before her now. He became weak and vulnerable.

"Our bond is unscathed." Cupid announced, holding her head high as she looked down at the now mealsy worm she called her accomplice. "A bullet to your shoulder and back wasn't enough to nearly kill you." She drew a cross over her withered heart and sharpened her eyes at him. "I'm not the one betraying our deal, Valhart."

Valhart's scar over his heart started to glow as Cupid drew the cross and he winced. "What are you talking about?"

"Oh, don't be so shallow, Kurt Valhart." She scoffed, approaching the man as her pink eyes turned a darker shade. Kurt didn't say anything, still dumbfounded as to why she was upset. Cupid growled and grabbed him by his neck, digging her sharpened nails in his skin. "You have a varie that you do not wish to let me feed upon." Kurt gasped as he stared in to Cupid's eyes, not wanting to fight back. "Do you remember when you first found me?" She asked and Kurt couldn't reply with her hand slithering around his neck.

"I was ruthless and I was very hungry. You, freshly scented with blood, came to me by accident in that field. Despite my hunger, I didn't kill you. Instead, I made you my host and a host should fulfil his duties to pay me back for such a kind act." She sharpened the slits in her eyes and quickly let him go, leaving Kurt to fall to his knees and gasp out for air. "You're being distracted." She said, blankly, and turned away from him once more. "Sometimes I wonder if it was really worth my time."

"Cupid," Kurt called out, coughing, and Cupid hummed in question. "I will get her, I promise you...just not now. It's like Aloise, I have to get her to trust me." Kurt made up excuses to extend his time and Cupid scowled at him then kicked him in his stomach with her heels.

"Do not lie to me. I know what you desire and nothing on this Earth can keep such an obvious secret from me." She scolded, holding him by his hair. "Unlike Maestro, I am not patient when I'm hungry."

"Pardon me." Maestro's voice suddenly popped up and the two of the looked at the door where the man stood. "Aloise asks for your presence, Kurt." He informed before looking at Cupid who did not seem to release Kurt. "Let him go for now."

Cupid growled but did as she was told. She straightened her back and gave Kurt one last kick on his chest, pushing him towards Maestro. "Take him. I'll follow after." Cupid demanded, giving out a loud sigh.

Maestro grabs Kurt by his arms to pull him up to his feet, unsteadily rocking back and forth. Kurt didn't resist Maestro as he looked away from Cupid, he was thinking about what she said - how he was breaking the bond.

Eventually, the two arrived at Maldwell's old office, now at Aloise's disposal. Aloise managed to convince Maldwell that she needed a room for her inventions. Of course, she intended it to be her own private room - not even Maldwell could enter it without her permission.

Kurt looked around the room, only being able to watch as Aloise entered and exited this room, and felt a bit disappointed about what was inside. He expected it to be full of weapons or creatures or experiements but was only given dusty bookshelves, a broken table and cracked walls. The entire room was almost empty.
