The professor returns

We get back to the house to find Pan and Helios waiting for us in the kitchen, laughing and putting together dinner for us all.
They swing me round and drop a kiss on my head before going back to cooking and we sit down at the table to watch them.
"Where are Eb and Mo?"
"They were following a lead on the professor, they should be back soon" Pan tells us.
I relax and listen to their chatter, happy to be surrounded by them but alert to the fact two of my boys were not yet home, I knew the professor was dangerous and would be a problem for us, the boys had explained to me the rules about engaging with him without him attacking first but I wished I had argued that with Leto.
Eb and Mo still hadn't returned two hours later and I was now concerned, they should have been back, the boys with me had tried to contact them but had no luck and I was now pacing the living room with them watching me.
"Nettie, can you feel them through the soul link" Ati asked suddenly making me stop as I remembered how I had felt them earlier at the Falls.
"How do I try?" I ask him reaching for his hand.
He pulled me down onto the sofa between him and Bo, "relax Nettie, imagine you have strings coming from you out to each of us, each string is slightly different, linking you to us, can you feel me" he paused and I did as instructed, feeling deep within myself and feeling the love underlaid with concern coming from Ati's link, "I feel you" i said in awe.
"Good now find the others, one by one"
I did as instructed identifying each of them in the room before stretching out further on the two remaining links, I felt anger and frustration coming through the link.
"I've got the links" I told Ati "now what"
"Now your going to scry for their location" he told me laying a map on the table and giving me a chain with a crystal on.
"Hold the crystal over the map and focus on the link, just relax, it will come naturally"
The crystal swung a little before settling towards one spot on the map..Temple Mine.
"Damn it, Nettie we need you to stay here safe while we go and get them" Bo said getting up.
"But, I want to come with you" I beg.
"No baby, you are safe here, we will have them back very soon, please for us" Ati asked softly.
"Okay, but please be safe, I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to any of you"
"We'll be back before you know it" Pan promised kissing my forehead.
I watched as they got ready quickly and disappeared out into the night.

I fidgeted alone in the house by myself, walking from room to room unable to settle until I heard the kitchen door open and the sound of footsteps moving through the lower hall.
My boys would have called out for me and I would have felt them near, but this was not them, I could sense hate and fear and moved myself back into the darkness to observe without being seen.
The figure below moved through a patch of light and I saw the figure of the Professor, he held a gun out ahead of him and he moved on quietly.
I felt the soul links to make sure my boys were all alright and could feel back anger, frustration and determination but no fear or pain.
The professor had moved through the living room and was now heading for the stairs, I needed help, my phone was downstairs if I could get to it.
A sudden blaze of anger from all my soul links made me sway, the anger was followed by fear which made me worry for them, they needed help, I started praying to Leto and Zeus to help my boys, more concerned with them than the man in our house.
The man who now stood in front of me, I had not realised he had got so close as I was focusing on the boys until his grip on my arm pulled me out of my hiding spot, he pointed the gun at me.
"Demon" he hissed pulling me back downstairs.
I could fell me heart racing and tried to calm myself, not knowing if the soul link would send my fear to them and not wanting to make them panic.
"What do you want" I asked as he shoved my down onto the sofa.
"I want to know what you are" he spat, looking down at me.
"Not a demon" I reply calmly.
"I saw you, you had demon wings, you are a demon" he spat and I recoiled from the spittle coming from him.
I saw a soft glow in the hallway ... a portal was opening and knew help was coming, I just needed to keep him talking.
"I am not a demon" I repeated calmly "and you know it!"
He paced back and forth, waving the gun at me, "what happened to Mike and John, what did you do to them?"
"Who?" I asked confused.
"My men, they disappeared from the mine, where did you take them?"
I could see shadowed movement in the hall behind him
"They were judged for their sins" I told him "as will you be"
He swung the hand with the gun in and hit he across the temple, knocking me to the floor where I lay stunned.
"Only God will judge me, I am his servant, I seek and destroy the demons amongst us, and I bring judgement on you demon, go back to hell"
A white mist swirls through the room and the Professor freezes unable to move his body, I see fear cross his eyes.
"No, no, no" booms a voice behind him "you dare hurt my daughter, for that you will pay, you seek your men, well I think it is time you join them"
Zeus comes round and into the Professors view, his lightening bolt crackling in his hand as he stand in full God regalia.
The gun dissolves in his hand and the white mist retracts leaving the Professor standing unarmed in the centre of the room.
"What are you?" He whispers the fear evident in his voice.
"I am a God, I am Zeus and you are about to meet your reckoning"
The Professor drops to his knees and starts to pray, "that won't help you now" Zeus tells him "no only did you try to kill my daughter who is a goddess, you tried to kill an angel, so none of the gods are going to save you now" he waved his hand and a tall dark haired warrior came into the room
"Serenity, this is Thanatos" he said introducing us, ignoring the quivering man on the floor at his feet.
"Hello" I whispered quietly.
Thanatos smiled before hooking the Professor with a scythe he pulled from thin air, the air around them shimmered before they both disappeared.
Zeus turned to me "Serenity are you okay?" He asked pulling me close to hug me.
I froze before relaxing into his hold, realising he had saved me, he had come to my call for help..my boys
"Are they okay, are they safe?" I blurt out pulling back to look at his face.
"Yes, they are well and on their way back, Leto is with them" he tells me.
Suddenly the impact of what had just happened hit me and I started to sob, Zeus pulled me close again and rubbed my back, muttering soothing words as I broke down in his arms.
The front door slammed open and voices called my name, Zeus replied and soon I was surrounded by my boys, each of them touching me, contact we all needed.
"Are you okay, what happened" Helios asked stroking a finger down my cheek.
"I am now, my dad saved me" I tell them smiling as Zeus and Leto.
Zeus's face crumbled and a tear crept down his cheek, I pulled away from my boys and rushed to him.
"Dad, what is it, what's wrong?"
"Oh child, nothing is wrong, I am just so happy to hear you call me Dad, I didn't know about you till recently but my child you have my heart, I love you and to hear you call me dad is just...just" he pulls me close into a hug again and we stand there in silence for a while longer.
The gentle clearing of a throaty breaks us apart as Leto moves forward to hug me "I am glad you are safe child"
"Thank you Leto or shall I call you grandma"
She laughs and hugs me before letting me go "whatever you want to my child"
"Is it over" I direct my question to all of them.
"For now baby" Ati says pulling me close.
"What happened to you all" I asked curiously, knowing that my boys would not have stayed away unless there was a problem.
"The professor locked us in a lead lined room, the mine used to be a Lead mine and he had created a space to trap us and we couldn't use our gifts to escape, we could feel you through the link and when we felt your fear we were able to work our bond together and breakthrough the trap just as Leto came, she brought us back and told us what was happening, I am sorry baby, we shouldn't have left you, we won't ever again, I promise you" Mo explains wrapping his arms around me, I could still feel their fear through the link and their guilt.
"It's not your fault and there is nothing to feel guilt about" I tell them lovingly.
"The Professor is gone, Thanatos has dealt with him and now let's focus on us" I tell them reaching out to touch those who are not already touching me.
"And on that note we will leave you to it child" Zeus chuckles as he and Leto leave, the portal closing behind them.
"Okay baby" Mo says swing me up into his arms "time to focus on us" he tells me grinning as he carries me upstairs the other following.
