Angel Falls
1st June 1996
It was a beautiful evening but this meant nothing to the girl sobbing on the ground by the Falls, her pregnant belly exposed to the air and rippling as another contraction hit.
"Goddess please look after my baby, she is innocent and does not deserve the pain I feel, please Leto I pray to you, save my child" she screamed between sobs.
Another contraction hit the girl and her body arched up "ahhhh" they were coming faster now, soon her child would be here, her beloved baby, her reminder of the betrayal by the man she loved.
"Faith" the word whispered across the wind
"Goddess" she cried "save my child, please protect her"
"Faith, you can stay and be with her" the wind whispered
"No, without him I cannot bear to go on, to look at her and see him within, I am sorry Goddess but the betrayal is too strong, I am beyond broken and have made my choice"
"So it will be" the wind whispered and a white mist formed around the girl to protect her during the birth, another contraction hit "push" whispered the wind and she did.
"Serenity" Faith cried, "her name is Serenity"
"So it will be" the wind replied
The sound of shouting echoed around the lake, Faith, Faith where are you
The shouts came closer and then a group of people burst through the trees rushing to where Faith lay, the baby crying between her legs.
The party fell silent as one man rushed forward to gather Faith up, "my daughter what have you done" he asked tears running down her face.
"Jacob I need to check her and her baby, we need a cloth, please let me help" another man stepped forward
Jacob looked up at him blankly "doctor."
The others helped pull Jacob back as the doctor moved closer, He shook his head to the others as he checked Faith and then moved to the baby, still crying. A rough blanket was passed over as the doctor checked the baby over and wrapped it up after cutting the cord that bound her to Faith.
"Jacob, you have a granddaughter" the doctor said offering the bundle to him.
"No I had a daughter, she was my life and is now gone, that is nothing to me" he growled before bowing down to pick up Faiths body and walking away.
The doctor looked down at the baby in his arms and sighed, Jacob was in shock he would take the baby back and try Jacob again tomorrow when he was ready.
