Why Choose?

I watched as the gods all left through the portal taking Rhea with them, then my adrenaline ran out and I collapsed to my knees.
"Nettie" I was surrounded by the boys but it was Mo who scooped me up and took me back to the sofa keeping me in his arms and rocking me as I thought about what had just happened.
"Baby are you okay" he asked me as the others surrounded us.
"She threatened you, I couldn't bear to lose you, any of you, i would rather die" I mumbled

Ati reached for my hand "and we would all die rather than lose you, but..." he glanced around at the others "what if you didn't have to choose one of us, would you take us all?"

I looked at him and then at each of them to see agreement in their eyes "how could it work, you're already fighting over me, how could we all work, I don't want to lose your friendship and rip you apart as brothers"

Pan took my other hand drawing my attention to him "is it something you can accept, us sharing you, could you manage us all, we are arrogant, hot headed and there will probably be arguments but not with you, so why choose, we have been sharing you since we were eighteen this is just the next step"

I thought about what they were offering, did it make me a bad person to want them all, in my heart they were 'my boys'

"Do you all really want this?" I ask softly, almost scared of the answer

"Yes"

I looked up at them shyly  "if you change your mind, any of you I would understand but I would like to try to see what we could have together"

Mo squeezed me tighter "Oh baby we wont change our mind, you are everything we want, all of us, trust us, trust yourself"

The boys murmured their agreement to his words and I smiled up at them "Okay"

My quiet agreement brought them forward each touching me in some way and as we all connected I felt a warm glow surround us and my awareness of them all rose as I felt our souls link, the boys gasped as the feeling tightened then fizzed

"Soul linked, that's its baby you can't lose us now" Ati chuckled and the other joined in.

"What does that mean" I questioned

Pan knelt in front of me and caught my chin in his hand bring my eyes up to his "It means you are ours and we are yours, linked together , destined to stay with us"

I smiled at him then frowned wondering if that's the positive what's the negative, did I want to know, was I brave enough to ask.

"What are you thinking?" Pan asked stoking my cheek to bring my attention back to him.

"That's sounds wonderful but if there is one thing I have learnt recently its that there's always a negative, what is it"

"Nettie...."Pan started and stopped looking at his brothers "Its nothing for you to worry about" he finished

I looked at them, each now looking away from me, twisting in his lap I turned to Mo "Tell me"

Mo sighed "those who are soul linked are bound to the primary soul together forever until death.....and if the primary dies......they all die"

"WHAT" I cried struggling to get off his lap "tell me its not true"

Mo held me tight stopping my struggles "Nettie relax, we won't let anything happen to you or any of us"

"You should have told me before we touched, you should have had a choice, you would be safer away from me" I whispered

"Nettie, none of us knew until it happened, its not a choice we needed, as even if we had known we would have soul linked to you, I am not surprised or worried, we are stronger together"
