A.N. Whew, sorry guys I have not been in the writing mood lately. Also today is my birthday! :)

~Present day~

Sighing, I lean back in my chair and look over what I've written. So far so good. My fingers ache and my legs are craving to be stretched so I decide to take a break. I move out of my chair and shut my laptop. My hand reaches out and opens the door to my bedroom and step into the hallway. The house is silent, I guess I'm alone. The quiet patter of a light rain is the only thing I hear as I walk down the hallway. It's almost midnight.

I step outside onto my porch and down the steps, greeted by a soft breeze and cool rain to my skin. I've never minded the rain, or the darkness of nighttime. Oddly, it soothed me. I turn and brush off the bottom step of my porch and take a seat on the cold wood. Memories begin to flood my mind of a rainy night like this.

~In the Past~

I run up to my room, tears falling down my cheeks. My foster dad's voice echoes through the hallway, cursing and threatening me for running away. I'm only eight and I've already tried to run. My 'parents' are around thirty and party way too much to take care of a kid, me. I get $10 a month to pay for food and clothes. When I got my first allowance, I foolishly bought toys and things I didn't need. That was a terrible mistake.

But I leaned from it and I learned how to spend my money in a smart way so I didn't run out to quickly. My door slams open, causing me to jump, and my father storms into the room. "I told you to come here Jane! " His belt is gripped tightly in his hand.

"I- I-" I stutter.

"I- I-," he mocks me and grabs my wrist. He pulls down my clothes until my butt is bare and pushes me onto the bed and whips me with his belt, hard. I cry in pain but don't struggle, since it will only make it worse.

"No allowance for a month!" He growls and leaves my room.

~Present day~

I cry out and rub my eyes from my memories. I know that I have said that I miss my parents and that it may sound stupid that I could possibly miss them if they were so horrible to me, but I do. People want to have a parent figure and they were the closest things I could call to my parents. Shadows cross in front of a nearby street light and encase me. A long pale hand extends out to me and lifts my head up from my lap.

My eyes adjust to the light to see Slenderman standing before me. "I am your parent now Jane." His deep voice says in my mind, "you will never be alone or abused again."

A smile slowly spreads across my face and I nod. My hand reaches up and takes his. Light glitters off of two small golden bands on my right ring finger. The bottom band has three diamonds across the middle, the upper band has one large diamond with two smaller sapphires on both sides of it. My eyes look down to my rings and I let out a heavy sigh. Movement from behind Slenderman catches my eye. As I gaze over Toby walks out from behind him, followed by Hoodie and Masky, who stop at Slender's sides. Toby walks over to me and wraps his arm around my shoulders, "he'll be back soon Jane. He wouldn't leave you like th-that." He twitches but tries to stop it before I notice. Toby always twitches when he is nervous.

"Thanks for trying to cheer me up guys. But I just can't keep track of Jeff all the time. We told each other we would be together forever and I believe it but Jeff is Jeff and he will do whatever he wants. I'm not afraid that he will cheat on me because I know it won't happen, he isn't like that." I look down at the flooded ground under my feet. Jeff has been gone for a few weeks now and nobody has seen him or had any communication with him at all. It's like he fell off the face of the Earth.

Slender's longs fingers run through my hair and pulls my bangs back from my face. "Don't worry darling. We will find him."

My eyes find the faint indents of his eye sockets. Although his face is expressionless, I've been around him for long enough to find the faintest emotion in his soulless face and it holds concern. I turn to my house, it's sturdy enough for myself and Jeff to live in but we have been looking for a new place to stay. With the paint chipping and roof falling into itself, people are too creeped out to even imagine approaching it.

"I will give him a week to return," I say quietly, "if he isn't back by then." I turn to face the four men in front of me, "I am going to look for him and find him myself."  My eyes look up to the harvest moon shining brightly over us. I am not going to let my husband leave me or be hurt in anyway. Especially when he has our three year old baby girl with him.
