Pidge headed for the lion hangars. She hadn't made any progress on cleaning and only succeeded in making a bigger mess so she gave up and decided to run some diagnostics on the lions. She went to the black lion's hangar first because it was closest. When she entered the room she was surprised to see that the lights were already on.
They were automatic and were controlled by a motion detector. That meant someone else was in the room.
"Hello?" Pidge called into the room. Her voice echoed of the walls but there was no reply. Pidge shrugged it off and made a mental note to check the light settings later. Still she couldn't help but feel suspicious.
She walked over to the black lion and turning to a control panel to her right, she got to work. As she tapped away at the various buttons she kept glancing around the room. She felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up, a feeling that only occured when someone was watching her.
After scanning the room for what must have been the umptenth time, she finshed checking the black lion's systems and hurried to the door. Pidge searched the room on last time trying to pinpoint the source of her discomfort but she found nothing.
She stepped out into the hall and looked behind her. She half expected half hoped the lights would turn off, and she flinched slightly when they stayed on. She scrambled down the hall trying to escape uneasy feeling.
Meanwhile unknown to anyone, a figure quietly slid out of his hiding place behind some boxes in the black lion's hangar. The only sound he made was the clunk of his boots on the floor. The figure entered the lion and sat in the cockpit. Placing his hands on the dark console, he waited for the lion to activate. The cockpit stayed dark. He concentrated harder willing the lion to start but there was still no response. The figure became frustrated and slammed his hands down on the unlit dash.
"Agh!" he shouted. "Why won't you work?!" The figure sighed angrily. "I guess I'll have to try something else."
