Pidge awoke to a soft hissing sound. The forcefield keeping her in the pod dematerialized and she stumbled out into a pair of waiting arms. Looking up she saw someone smiling down at her. Shiro.

She pressed her face into his chest and hugged him. For a while she didn't notice anything else. Then the recent events returned to her memory. She started and looked up.

"How are we alive?" Were the first words out of her mouth.

"The lions saved us." Shiro replied "Were in the castle now." Pidge reluctantly pulled away from the embrace and sure enough she could see the familiar arches of the castle and her friends worried faces. She now noticed the excited chatter emanating from behind her.

"They're both okay!" Hunk cheered.

"We were really worried about you." Allura said.

"Thanks for coming to get us." Pidge said. "The distraction you caused is part of what helped us escape."

"So what happened?" Lance voiced hesitantly. "How were you captured by the Galra?" He eyed Shiro warily.

"Yeah, you two just disappeared. And the comms on the black lion cut out..." Keith trailed off. The rest of the paladins became silent, waiting for a response.

Pidge looked to Shiro who nodded. "Well...It's a long story."

Pidge and Shiro explained about the Kuron project and the various Shiro clones they had met.

"So...you're the real Shiro?" Hunk asked.

"Well, as far as I can tell." Shiro said.

"But then how do you know all of us?" Lance questioned. "You've never met any of us before."

"When any of the clones died, their memories were sent to me. I have the memories of all of the clones, including the ones you met." His tone then turned solemn and he looked at Pidge "Even the most recent one."

"I wonder if your connection with the black lion was also transferred with the memories." Allura wondered aloud.

"What do you mean?" Pidge said.

"We never brought to back to the castle, your lions did. At some point during the battle, one of the hangars on the cruiser opened and the black lion came flying out. It hovered around the entrance though. Then the green lion left it's hangar on its own and flew over to the opening. Then both lions flew back together into the black lion's hangar. After that we came back to the ship and found you both in your lions, unconscious."

Pidge smiled. "That must mean it's the real you. The lion didn't let the last clone fly it because it sensed something was wrong. But well..." She worked up the courage for her next words. "Hopefully that wasn't the only thing that was passed on." She looked hopefully at Shiro. He nodded. Then in one swift motion she grabbed the collar of Shiro's shirt and gently pulled downward. Their lips met. Finally after all this time, they could be together.

When they pulled away Pidge blushed. She began to feel embarrassed but then she shook it off. Instead she looked up expecting to see everyone's surprised faces. Rather, Lance was the only shocked one.

"Well it's about time" Keith laughed, elbowing Shiro.

"Aww, you two are so cute." Hunk smiled.

"Huh...what...when...to two...huh?" Lance stuttered. Everyone ignored him.

"You mean you all knew?" Pidge asked.

"Yeah, Shiro...one of the Shiro's told me." Keith said.

"I figured it out myself." Hunk said.

"The mice told me." Allura giggled.

"Once again, Lance is the only one surprised." Shiro deadpanned

Everybody laughed.

"Well, I'm going to make a batch of celebratory cookies." Hunk said. "Peanut butter of course."

Pidge smiled. Everybody was safe. The real Shiro was free from the Galra. Haggar's plans were stopped. Finally everything was going right.
