The reason why Luciano is so mean to other people is not because he wants to be cruel or malicious but because he he's afraid that if he opens up to someone, they'll just tear him up and leave him in the dirt. Though he won't let himself admit it, all he wants is a true friend. Sure Kuro and Lutz could be considered his "friends" but their alliances, not friendships. What he really wants is a person that will always be there for him, even though he doubts anybody will ever spend the time and energy to care.
