PROLOGUE
I walked up to Christopher and looped my arms around his neck. School was finally out, meaning that it was summer holidays. I was so excited! I didn’t really know what I was going to do. I wanted to spend some time with Lilli, make out with Chris, go bowling (I haven’t been bowling in FOREVER!), make out some more with Chris, dress up as a fairy for a day and visit little kids, make out heaps with Chris… Oh! And I wanted to bake a cake. A blue cake. With a face! Yeah! I’m going to do that right now!
Letting go of Christopher, I waltzed over to the kitchen in our apartment. Yes, our apartment. Turns out, since my boyfriend is a totally hot vampire prince and everything, he’s rich enough to buy us a condo. In LA.
Fudge monkeys yeah!
The fully stocked kitchen had all of the ingredients I needed. I’d never really baked before, but I knew the basics. Butter, eggs, flour, sugar…
“Milee, what are you doing?” Christopher asked as I laid out the ingredients.
“I really want to bake a cake. A blue cake,” I blabbered. Grabbing the flour, I poured some into a glass before dumping it into a bowl. “How many cups do I need? Maybe four… Hmm… My favorite number is three… Yeah. Three.”
I put the flour in thoughtfully before eyeing the eggs.
“Milee, please don’t. I have to go meet up with Jonathan so I’ll be gone for about half an hour. I don’t want you burning down the house in the mean time.”
“I won’t burn down the house!”
“Yes. You will.”
“No I won’t! I’m a good cook!”
“You can’t even cook eggs, Mils. I don’t even want to think about you baking.”
“Oh please Chris! Please! Please! Please! Please! Pleeease!”
“No.” He took the bowl of flour away from me and put it by the sink. I pouted at him grumpily before flopping down on the couch. The kitchen and living area were connected together so it was a big open space. “I also have to pick up Lala from day care and I can’t be late.”
“But I just want to bake a cake! I’m not hurting anybody!’ I complained loudly.
‘Not yet- I don't trust you in the kitchen Milee,” he said back and grabbed a briefcase.
“You don’t trust me at all!” I wailed and fell back onto the couch. Chucking my arm over my face, I propped my feet on the back of it.
“Of course I trust you. Get your feet off my couch like that, you’ll scratch the leather.”
