Hal's POV
"Barry I'm...Im so sorry." I whispered as I gazed at the remains of the photo. You worthless person, you just destroyed the photo of your lovers dead parents. You don't deserve him. I pushed the thoughts away when I looked up at Barry .
"It's....Its ok..." Barry said smiling as he began to wipe his eyes that were spilling with tears. "No it's not ok! That was....that was your family." My yell turned into a whisper at the end. "No, that was a photo. A photo OF my family. My mom and dad are kept in my mind and heart Hal." Barry said with a smile as he moved towards me and gave me a hug. I let out a sigh. I then placed a quick kiss onto Barry's soft lips, Barry smiled and kissed me back. "If you aren't upset, then why where you crying?" I asked pulling away from the kiss. "I was just caught in the moment. My mind can process at a fast rate, so in a few milliseconds, I remembered that the most important thing to me was standing a few steps away." Barry said with a small laugh as he took my hand in his soft and kind ones.
We walked to the table and Barry grabbed us some waffles from the store in a matter of seconds. We ate and talked about how good the food was and how your supposed to make waffles when Barry changes the topic. "So, the meeting with the League was about the yellow lanterns and how they are starting to meet together more and more. Of course we are expecting the worst, and Bruce went over some of the ways to take down and flee from a yellow lantern. Although, Clark and Bruce want you to give us all some more information on some of the yellow lanterns that you've encountered. " Barry said looking at me, I noticed that he was about to add something else but hesitated . "Ok" I said stretching. I was about to leave the table, but Barry was far from done with this conversation."So Hal, what did you do last night?" Barry asked me tilting his head to the left a little. I would've found this adorable if not for the problem of having a good answer that Barry would believe. There's no way I can tell him about my encounter with the very villain who made him cut his beautiful self. The villain who I got almost no information about from the encounter. I took a sigh and then spun a lie that would satisfy Barry.
"I had to team up with some of the other green lanterns to help out a dying planet that was being invaded and robbed of its power source as well as the natural peace. The invaders did not want to leave peacefully and we had to force them off. While doing so, there was this one invader that opened fire and hit one of the lanterns who had their ring off So that they could look around, thinking that the invaders where gone....after that I wanted to drink...I felt bad about the death and....and I underestimated the strength of the alcohol...I'm sor-" I was cut of with a hug from Barry. "No, I'm sorry. I thought that you were getting back into a bad drinking habit...I had no idea about the mission.." Barry said looking at the ground in shame. Good job. Make him believe your lies, now he won't know how pathetic you really are. Your supposed to be a hero, well, I've met villains who've acted more like a hero then I'll ever be. I have to protect Barry. Even if I have to lie about how I'm doing it...
"Hal? Are you ok?" Barry asked me. I looked at his blue eyes, his soothing blue eyes that belonged to the best thing on this planet. The person who've I've just lied to....the person who I have to protect no matter what.
