Chapter 24

I wake up to the sound of shuffling in the room, I sit up and look around. I see Charlotte in the closet looking for something.

"What time is it" I say while laying back down.

"8:30" she replied.

I seen her get two suitcases out of the closet, she then proceeded to take mine and her clothes and put them in the suitcases. She had out hair brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

"What's going on Charlotte" I asked getting worried.

"My mom is taking us to Florida for the next week" was all she said.

"Get up we have to leave soon" she said with a laugh.

"Ughhhh" was all I replied with.

I got up and walked to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair. I walked back into "my" room and picked jeans and a t-shirt out and changed in it.

Within an hour her mom was in the driveway honking at us. We put our bags in the trunk and then got into her car. It said it would be a 40 minute drive to the airport, I had my head against the window and looked out.

Charlottes mom had to stop and get gas, but like always who has to pump it....... me. I paid for the gas inside and walked out to pump it, a black suv pulled up on the other side but I didn't pay any attention to it.

As I was putting the fuel pump back I heard my name.

"Jessica" someone asked .

I slowly turned around not knowing who called my name.

Shit.

There in all his glory was Joshua, but he didn't look too good. His hair was a mess and his shirt wasn't tucked in, most of all he smelled like liquor. His eyes were dark and he looked like he's been crying.

"I have to go......." I trailed off.

"Jessica wait" he went to reach for me but I was already in the car.

Charlottes mom started to drive away from the gas station, I looked behind us and saw Joshua get in his car and leave the gas station heading towards us. He was right on our tail , we made eye contact and I swear I seen a tear.

After about him following us for 10 minutes he took an exit off. Then I got a text.

Joshua ~ it's not what it looked like when you walked in......... please let me explain.

Me~ when I get back and you have cleaned yourself up and get rid of the liquor, we can talk.

Joshua ~ get back? Where are you going?.

Me~I'm going to Florida for a week.

Joshua ~ WHAT !! Why.

Me~ clean yourself up and we will talk when I get back.

Joshua~ just text me when you get there, please forgive me.

I put down my phone and sighed. We made it to the airport and got our luggage out of the car. After checking out tickets we were on the plane, we sat in our seat and after everyone was seated the plane took off.

I dread coming back.
