June Martin (born June 23, 1990) is a Canadian actress. She is best known for playing roles Beatrix "Bird" Castro in the MTV teen drama series Finding Carter, and as Sarah in the Disney Channel/Teletoon original movie My Babysitter's a Vampire and the television series of the same name. She also plays Toni Topaz on The CW teen drama series Riverdale.
Early Life!
Martin was born in Ottawa, Ontario. Her father is East African and her mother is Scottish. She realized she wanted to become an actress at a young age. When her father got a job offer in the United States, the Martin family jumped at the opportunity to move.
Career!
Martin made appearances in the VH1 original movie A Diva's Christmas Carol in 2000 and an appearance in the movie Frankie & Alice in 2010. She became known in 2007 for performing the theme song for The Latest Buzz. She also played Marion Hawthorne in the 2010 Disney Channel original movie Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars.
The next year, she played Sarah in the Teletoon/Disney Channel original movie My Babysitter's a Vampire, as well in the television series of the same name. Martin also appeared in the 2011 Disney Channel original movie Geek Charming. She has a recurring role in season 2 of the Disney Channel comedy series A.N.T. Farm.
In 2013, Martin appeared on Degrassi: The Next Generation for two episodes.
In 2017, Martin was cast in the recurring role as Toni Topaz in The CW teen drama series Riverdale and joined the main cast of the fantasy drama series The Shannara Chronicles as Lyria for the second season on Spike.
Personal Life!
Martin won the Junior Miss America 1999 pageant and graduated from Colonel By Secondary School in 2010.
In an interview in 2015, Martin was asked about her relationships and sexuality. Martin revealed she once loved a girl in school, and then she realized she could possibly be something other than straight. One year later, in 2016, Martin officially came out as bisexual. Bella Thorne was her first public girlfriend in 2017, despite Martin being some years older than Thorne. The duo split soon after Martin debuted as Toni Topaz on Riverdale.
As of late 2017, there are rumors of The Greatest Showman star Zac Efron and Martin, making them out to be dating. Neither party has confirmed this.
After growing up vegan, Martin recently switched to a vegetarian diet.
