JUNE 16, 2018

"I don't want to hear about the makeup sex you guys had." Zendaya was rolling out some cookie dough. "I'm serious, stop talking."

June was sitting on the counter next to the dough, swinging her feet childishly. "It was perfect." she sighed.

Zendaya shuddered. "Please, not in front of the children." she pointed at the floor where her dog, Noon, was waiting for Zendaya to drop something on the floor for him to eat.

June laughed. "I'm just really happy."

Zendaya kept working on baking her cookies. "I know, and I'm happy for you guys, but I'm serious— some details I'm okay with you keeping to yourself."

June playfully slapped her shoulder. "I didn't even tell you the details, asshole!" the girls giggled. "Anyways, I'm really happy for today. Thanks for putting this on."

Today June Martin had turned 27, finally. Zendaya had a break from filming, along with Tom and Emma and the rest of their cast too, so they'd come out to Daya's house to celebrate, along with family and close friends.

"Yeah, thank God we're having the party here because I don't think I could ever sit on your couch ever again." Zendaya shuddered.

"Don't tell Emma and Tom, they've both slept on the couch before and after it happened." June hopped off the counter upon hearing Daya's nephew cry from the next room. "Let auntie June get this." she put a hand up and disappeared down the hall, only to come back with him in her arms happily minutes later.

"Are you still on that no kids thing?" Zendaya asked as she put a cookie tray in the oven.

June rolled her eyes. "It's not a no kids thing, it's an "I'm gonna have kids when I'm ready" thing."

Zendaya shrugged. "I don't know, June. Don't you think you're getting kind of old to be thinking like that." June picked up a towel and threw it over the countertop at Daya. "Hey, speaking of gross couples, my friends Jordan and Rebecca are coming and they're super in love."

June smiled. "Okay."

The party went smoothly, as did every single party Daya managed. June still wasn't used to displaying PDA, especially with Zac, so everytime he would so much as smile at her, the girl would burst into a ball of giggles. Every time he called her any sort of pet name, a furious blush would cover her face.

June was becoming better friends with Daya's friends and castmates, and they were overall just better people to hang out with compared to her old group of friends. She worried she was a little too old to be hanging out with them, but they were more matured and better than adulting than she was. She decided this was the group she felt most comfortable in.

Daya's friends Jordan and Rebecca had just exposed their relationship to the public after keeping it a secret for over a year. They seemed really happy about that and Daya was right about them being super in love. They couldn't keep their hands to themselves and Jordan followed Rebecca wherever she moved to in the house.

Eventually, Emma got tired of third wheeling with them, so she went to join Tom while he was entertaining all the kids with his Spider-Man tricks. Emma watched Tom with a smile, and every once and a while he would flash her one before a kid demanded he did something else. Emma was unaware of two things at that moment: June watching her and what her heart was telling her.

June watched Emma with a smile, knowing Emma would realize soon enough she liked Tom as more than a friend and on-screen boyfriend. June thought of the night she woke up to pee only to see Tom and Emma sound asleep in each other's arms on her couch. June wondered how either of them let it get that far without establishing feelings for each other. June and Zac could never!

That left Brisa, Emma's best friend and personal assistant, with Harrison on the chairs by the fireplace, discussing everything from their messed up sleeping schedules to the waffles they had at the hotel the morning before.

A tired Zendaya was petting Noon in her lap with a glass of wine in her hand, entertaining an also tired Jianna, but Jianna was pulling out her phone and headphones and handed Zendaya one, letting her hear. June guessed Jianna was letting her hear some of her new and unreleased music.

June made sure she said hello to every single person who came and thanked them for coming, Zac on her arm. Soon everyone gathered around to sing happy birthday (the cherry on top to making June feel like a kid) and eat the cake Jianna helped Zendaya bake.

They all ate and danced to Smash Mouth, Hot Chelle Rae, and more throwback music. June made sure Replay played just to embarrass Zendaya a little bit.

"It's my party, dance if I want to!" June sang aloud with Emma as they twirled around the living room. "We can get crazy let it all out!" Emma raised her arms and June stuck out her tongue. When All-Star (June's personal favourite) came on, Jianna came over and joined the two. Emma waved Brisa over and June dragged Zendaya out to dance with them.

"Hey now! You're a rockstar!" June and Jianna pretended they were playing air guitars, earning a chuckle from Zac. Jianna and June saw him and ran to him, pulling him by the arms and insisting he dance with them. Eventually, everyone was dancing, and June made sure all her friends were surrounding her. Everywhere she turned, she saw her friends. She smiled, truly happy in that moment.

Everyone was happy to see how happy the couple was, especially June's family and friends. Everyone knew how June struggled in relationships and developed social anxiety because of previous breakups and run-ins with her exes.

Though that was not on June's mind that day, and every time she looked at Zac, all her problems went away. She crossed her fingers that it would be him and her in the end.

Even if it wasn't, she had Zendaya, and now she had Emma, Brisa and Jianna too.
