Taking him home.

" Carl, would you like to go home?"

" Yes."

" Good! I just need one thing answered before I take you home ." Negan stated as he walked up to Carl.

Carl shoves his hands in his pockets nervously.

" What's that ?"

" Did your dad put you up to this ?"

" No! He doesn't even know I am here !"

Negan smiled as he patted Carl's back.

" Good! Now let's take you home kid ."
Negan turns his head over his shoulder making eye contact with me.

" You want to come? It's the last time leaving this place ."

I crossed my arms over my chest while letting out a huff.

"Yes, I want to make sure he gets home alive ."

"He will as long as he behaves."

The black truck is parked in the back of the lot next to the chainlink fence. Walkers claw hungrily at the each other trying to break free from their prison. The hot sun beats down on me as we walk on the steaming gravel.

Negan opens the truck door for us to slide in. Carl slides in first then makes room for me. The hot leather sticks to my skin as I make my way to the passenger door next to Carl. Negan slams his door buckles his seatbelt. He then turns then key sending the Ac on giving us some relief from the heat.

Carl keeps his eye on the road awaiting his moment of freedom. At least he can escape this hell, I am stuck forever. I honestly am not sure how the next two weeks will go. I wish I could just stay here will my family and not be separated from them.

The old metal gate to our community greets me with open arms. My heart flutters at the thought of being back here! Even if it's just for a little while, it's a break from the stress of the sanctuary.

" Stay here !" Negan states as he climbs out of the truck and heads for the gate. He bangs Lucille on the gate jolting its residents in a state of panic. His unwelcomed visit will further engrave tensions between our two communities.

" Little Pigs! Little Pigs! The big bad wolf here! I brought some friends with me! Come out here Jax, and Carl!"

We quickly scrambled to his side trying not cause any more problems. The gate opened with a scowling Rosita inside. Her face holds so much pain as I gaze into her bloodshot eyes. He cheeks have streaks of tears that haunt her face, an example of the pain she carries.

" Hey, is Rick here ?" I asked softly trying to be careful about how I speak.

" He isn't here! He left to go get supplies for him!"

She spat in anger as she held her firm
gaze on him. I walked up to her slowly approaching her like an injured dog ready to strike. I wrapped my arms around her neck hugging her right.

I whispered in her ear softly.

" Please just don't cause a problem right now. Now is not the time to strike. We must be patient ."

" I know that. It's just hard ."

" Excuse me, since the prick isn't here, I will just take the kid home myself ." Negan glanced over his shoulder at Carl. " Show me where you live kid!"

Carl walks away taking us to his house down the street. We walk up the old steps and Negan knocks on the door.

Olivia's sweet face greets us in utter terror at the sight of Negan.

" I am here to talk to Rick ."

" Rick isn't here. He left to get supplies. For you ."

" Good! Well, I guess I will wait till
He gets back. Come on a kid show me around your home." Negan links his arm with mine as we follow Carl around his home.

" Dam! Running water, electricity! This is a nice house! You got any board games we could play?"

Carl squints his eye obviously irritated by this request.

" Are you serious? A board game?"

" Yeah! Go find one we can play !"

Carl stands there not moving for a moment.

" Now! Kid!" Negan barks, sending the boy on his way.

Negan looks over at the mantle eyeing a picture on it from Ricks old house. It has Lori, Carl,  Rick, and myself at a water park. Negan picks it up gently as his eye analyze the photo.

" Is that Carl's mom ?"

" Yes. She was my best friend ."

" She was beautiful! I can see that you two were close. "

" I miss her every day."

Negan places the picture down and turns around facing me.

" Tell me about her. How did you two meet ?"

" It's a long story ."

" We have time baby. Start from the beginning ."
