Each faction in this group, whatever else their troubles, does not age with the passage of time.

Though the precise forms of vampire vary from place to place and area to area, all members of this faction share a few commonalities: their thirst for human blood (though the quantity and frequency can vary,) an unlife which is theoretically perpetual, and the perpetual fear of both sunlight and silver. One of the more numerous factions in the city, vampires have little in the way of hierarchy, preferring to work alone or in autonomous nests. The eldest vampire in the city is approximately 600 years old, a former French aristocrat who goes only by Révailler.

By far the most physically and magically diverse faction, Fae are united by hunger for human life-force, an aversion to iron, an inability to lie, and organization into two courts, Seelie and Unseelie. Fae Courts are a hotbed for power struggles and intrigue, even while each vies for the dominance with the dragon faction. At the moment, each Court is controlled by the Tuath Dé, a fae race renown for slender stature, unparalleled grace, and magical potency. However, such influence is by nature a transient state of affairs...

The Fallen

The Fallen is a faction of exiles

The Fallen is a faction of exiles. Their home is not Earth, but a heaven-like dimension which they refer to only as Above, where they wielded great power and influence. Due to an unknown crime millennia in the past, the powers of Above cast away 100 of their number, who fell to earth to become the first Fallen. Cut off from the power of Above, the Fallen discovered that feeding upon fragments of human souls could sustain their life and power. A Fallen is capable of creating another Fallen by gifting a human with a large amount of their own life force, such that completely recovering from the ritual takes decades. Fallen are easily identified by their unearthly beauty and extraordinary, if short-lived, bursts of physical and magical might.

The Children of Hell

As the Fallen hail from Above, so demons have the Below as their home

As the Fallen hail from Above, so demons have the Below as their home. Nonetheless, they are far from exiles— each demon who walks the earth is an active agent of the infernal powers, ensouled in a human body. Like the Fallen, demons feed upon human souls; however, rather than fragments which could theoretically regenerate given time, demons prefer to devour souls in their entirety as soon as a weakness is discovered. Though they may lack the raw physical or magical strength of other factions, demons have relatively few supernatural weaknesses beyond an allergy to symbols of faith, as well as access to an astonishing array of rituals capable of enacting a variety of magical effects.

The Dragons

As the closest thing to universally recognized nobility among the factions, dragons are the rarest type of Other in existence

As the closest thing to universally recognized nobility among the factions, dragons are the rarest type of Other in existence. Solitary creatures by nature, each dragon makes up for their lackluster connections by being some of the most formidable solitary fighters in existence. They appear human save for red eyes; nonetheless, dragon skin, muscle, and bone are nigh-invulnerable save to stupidly powerful magic and weapons made of Godsmetal, a highly magical alloy which only a few mage-smiths are capable of creating. Dragons also have substantial control over the element of fire, and they are capable of using it to great effect in territorial combat with other factions and dragons alike.
