A Cog in Society

I cry in silence,
I watch them pass by,
Their disregard,
The only thing satisfying me,
Reassuring me,
That everything is the same,
That nothing has changed,
Society still pressures,
Just to take away,
People still expect,
Just to be disappointed,
We still ignore problems,
Still push away,
Just to wonder,
Where everyone went,
Why we're alone,
Who used to be here,
When did they leave,
What did I do wrong,
To plague ourselves,
With questions,
That won't be answered,
Because we're afraid,
We won't face the truth,
We are losing our gravity,
Our sense of belonging,
Our individuality,
Cogs in society,
Emotionless drones,
Numb to pain,
Inattentive to each other,
Lost and broken,
Unknowingly,
Unwilling to find answers,
Nothing matters,
There is no big picture,
Just what's right there,
No dreaming,
No imagination,
Monotonous work,
Becoming nothing,
Just a part,
One in a machine,
No purpose,
Just a use,
No fulfillment,
Just work,
No reason to live,
Just because,
If you leave,
You're a coward,
But there are plagues,
Your mind begs,
It needs help,
To break away,
To leave the game,
To find happy,
Not just okay,
You've lost motivation,
It's not worth it,
They would judge,
You keep your mouth shut,
Your heart aches,
There's no point,
There's no reason,
There's no meaning,
You want out,
But you can't,
You'd never,
So you seek,
Try to find help,
But no one can know,
You cannot be an outsider,
A cog must fit,
You find a person,
They agree to help,
For a small price,
On Mondays you go,
To rebuild your life,
They say you're broken,
Depressed,
Anxious,
There's a lot in your head,
You never knew,
You ask how,
They say society,
Is making you mad,
Monotony kills,
Purpose is essential,
A dreamless world,
Is no place to live,
You must quit your job,
You must move,
Start all over,
But society says no,
You should stay,
You should keep working,
You'd never make it,
You listen,
Who are you,
To go against these words,
The gospel that is,
Society's expectations,
You cannot imagine,
Such a day,
Such a time,
So you cry,
And you too feel,
That reassurance,
Because their disregard,
Is the exact same.
