Percy's POV

Wow!

Yep that's all I can say considering I just saved a beautiful girl (who I may or may not have had a crush for about four years) from a burning building.

Well let's describe her to you first. Annabeth is a blond, but with no stereotypical traits of a blond. She's extremely smart and witty. Her blond hair is perfectly curly, kind of like a princess's curls. She has stormy grey eyes that seem to be evaluating everything around her. At first they may be unnerving, but they are really pretty if you get a chance to sit and look at them. She's extremely gorgeous, and like I said, I have had a crush on her for about four years. I don't personally know her but that doesn't mean I haven't ever noticed her. It seems that as soon as she walks into a room, all I can see is her. She just draws my attention like no one else ever could, and she never ceases to make me blush.

I first saw her walking around in the town that we both live in, New Paltz, New York, in one of the thriftier areas. My jaw immediately dropped when I saw her. Not only was she beautiful, but she was also shopping in the thriftier area of the town, which means either she is poor or she knows how to spend her money. The clothes she was wearing told me she wasn't poor, so I figured out quickly that she is a very smart person and knows how to do things wisely. I took a liking to her fast, and ever since then, I always look forward to seeing her again.

And now here she is! Sitting next to me crying into my shoulder and talking to me like she trusts me with everything. I love the feeling of this position, me holding her as she lets me in to see a glimpse of who she truly is, that is, who I think she truly is.

She looks up at me. "What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing, just how I got this lucky I guess," I said, looking down at her and smiling.

She blushed. "What do you mean?"

"Well somehow we are sitting here alone, with my arm around you and you leaning into my shoulder."

She got even redder. "Well, um, I guess this is nice."

I guess?

"Um, ok."

"Can I ask you a question?" She asked, staring off into the distance with a thoughtful look on her face.

"Anything."

"Do you live out here?"

I laughed. "Technically no. My mom lives about five minutes north of here. I just don't like to hang around her house because she does so much for me. I just feel like I'm a burden there."

"Oh, I'm sure that's not true!" She says. "She loves you to death I bet," she got quieter and quieter as she said these words.

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I guess I'm just, nevermind. It doesn't matter," she tries to convince me.

"I doubt that. What's wrong?" I ask, concerned.

"I don't really want to talk about it right now," she says quietly.

"Ok, I'm sorry I pushed." I don't wanna ruin this time with her.

"It's ok, don't worry about it," she reassures me.

"Hey, do you think you can stand and maybe walk?" I ask suddenly remembering something.

"I think I can manage," she said.

"Ok, as long as you're sure." I said, getting up.

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see," I said with a mischievous grin on my face.
