Chapter 8

Annabeth's POV

"Thanks Percy. For everything." I said from the passenger seat of his blue Chevy Impala. We had just pulled up to my house.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"You saved me from a burning building! You helped me get back to health. And throughout all that, you constantly cared for me."

"Well, we both know why I did that," he said smirking.

I blushed. "Yeah I guess we do." I leaned across the seat to give him a final kiss before I left. And this kiss was just like the others. It was sweet and passionate. I knew that I never wanted to pull away from him. But, I had to get home. I imagine my mother is already freaking out about where I am. So, I pulled away.

"I'm sorry but I have to go," I said regretfully.

"Alright," he said sadly. "I'll call you."

I smiled at him. "Can't wait." I waved to him as he drove away.

I turned around. This is what I have been scared for since I have been away from home. The one person who I know for a fact will be on my case as soon as I walk through that door. But, since I can't stay out here all night, I have to go in.

I walked towards my house. The beautiful two-story grey and white building that I called my home.

"ANNABETH LEE CHASE! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!!!" I heard my mother shout.

First, before I continue I must describe my "lovely" mother for you. Athena Chase looks almost exactly like me: blonde curly hair, stormy grey eyes, good figure. Ok let's face it, we were beautiful. But, sadly for my family, my mom didn't act at all like she should. She was evil. I know it's meant I say that about your mom, but it's true. Just ask my brother, Malcolm, or my dad (he even went as far as to divorce her). Let's just say she isn't pleasant.

Ok, let's continue.

My first feeling: dread. She wasn't supposed to be awake!!! It was flipping 2:00 am!!!

"Um, hi mom."

"Hello...honey," she said with a grimace. "I will repeat myself. Where. Have. You. Been!"

"Um...well..." I started talking really fast. "You know those walks I always take well I kind of got lost and this really nice guy found me and he offered to help me so I stayed at his house for a night and-"

"Wait," Athena asked. "Did you say a boy found you...and you stayed with him?"

"Well...yeah," Annabeth said, blushing.

"You are grounded until I decide you have learned you lesson," my "mom" told me.

Great. I'm going to be grounded for a long time.
