Percy's POV
"Did you have anything to do with that?" Annabeth asked me as we walked outside onto the my back porch.
"Well, Paul just wanted to ask me if it was ok that he proposed. He was planning to anyway." I said, gazing up at the sky. Annabeth followed my lead.
The night sky shown so brightly with stars, I could never count them all. I was amazed just standing there.
"Have you ever sat and stared at the sky?" I asked Annabeth. I gazed intently at the sky, but I could see from the corner of my eye she had turned to look at me. "I mean, just staring at it makes me feel small and insignificant. Whoever created this must have been a genius!" I turned to look at her.
I had originally planned to say something, but as soon as I looked into those stormy grey eyes, my mind turned to mush. Luckily, she was still capable of speaking.
"I know what you mean. Looking at the wide expanse of the universe, we just seem so small." She turned back to look at the sky while I continued to stare at her. "But the way I see it, even the smallest pebble can create a ripple that could eventually become a giant wave. I feel like even though I am small, I could change something. I don't want to go through my life unnoticed. I want to be remembered."
"Annabeth," she turned back to look at me. "I can guarantee you will be remembered by at least one person."
"And who is that?" She asked me, confused.
"Me." Before I even knew what I was doing, I found my lips on hers. She didn't respond right away and I was afraid she didn't like me the way I liked her. So, out of fear, I pulled away.
"I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me. I-" I was cut of by a finger on my lips. Even just that small touch sent shivers down my body.
"Don't be sorry," Annabeth said softly.
"I thought maybe you didn't like me. And that's why you didn't kiss me back." I tried to explain.
"Percy, I was just surprised!"
"You were surprised?"
"Yeah! I didn't think you liked me that way."
"Well, do you like me that way?" I asked her.
"Let's see if this gives you an idea." Annabeth then leaned up and kissed me full on the lips. I immediately got chills. What this girl could do to me was indescribable! And I barely knew her.
"Yeah I think I got an idea now," I said when she pulled away.
"You think?" She asked.
"Maybe I could use a little more convincing?"
She laughed.
"Well I guess so," she said, leaning her head up.
So, there we stood. Kissing under the stars.
