"No, I'm sure I saw Skulker heading this way," Danny spoke into his headset.
He, Sam, and Tucker had been on their nightly patrol when they somehow ended up in the Ghost Zone. The two friends following closely behind Danny in the Specter Speeder as he navigated through the Zone.
"Something about him ignoring my presence doesn't feel right. He's up to something, I just- don't know what..."
"I don't know man, maybe he gave up on that whole 'mounting your pelt on his wall' thing," Tucker stated.
Danny chuckled in response, too focused on finding the Hunter to fully process the conversation.
It's just... strange. Skulker never turns down an opportunity to defeat the "Ghost Child" as he calls me. So why now?
Before Danny could finish his thoughts, there was a yelp followed by an ectoblast nailing him in the chest, sending him flying backward and colliding with a floating rock formation.
"Danny! Are you alright?!" Sam shouted, steering toward him. On the firing end of the ectoblast was none other than the ghost Danny was following.
"I'm fine. Even better now that I got some rise out of you, Skulker," he said addressing the ghost before him. Danny got to his feet and resumed a battle stance.
"I don't have time for this, Ghost Child." There it was. "I have somewhere important to be and I don't want you to be the reason I am late."
"Oh, I'm sorry, is my presence distra- are those cupcakes?" Danny asked mid-sarcastic remark.
"Wouldn't you like to know," Skulker replied almost child-like.
"Actually, yeah. I would like to know so when I beat you in this fight I know who I'm saving from your presumably horrendous baking."
Danny could hear Sam and Tucker giggling through his earpiece at his remark.
"I don't have time for this. We will have to reschedule my hunting you until a later date, Ghost Child. Until then, leave me alone," Skulker stated as he flew off, further into the Ghost Zone.
Well, now I have to know what he is up to. No one just carries around cupcakes for any normal occasion.
"I'm gonna keep following Skulker. You guys should probably head back home. It's getting pretty late and I don't know how long this is gonna take with metal-face," Danny said to his friends.
"Yeah, no. That is not happening," Sam said crossing her arms.
"Sorry. Wasn't a question," Danny said as he pressed a button that sent the Spector Speeder hurling towards the portal and back to the real world, all while listening to the fading screams of protest from his friends until it disappeared.
Okay, now that they're home safe, time to get down to business.
Danny followed once again in the direction that Skulker flew for what felt like hours until he came upon a portion of the Ghost Zone he'd never seen before. In the center was what seemed to be a small palace of sorts. There was nowhere else Skulker could have gone so he decided to take his chances and check there.
He made his way in through the main doors which were, surprisingly, unlocked and unguarded. The inside was fairly nice as he made his way through the hallways searching for the hunter or anything fishy. He was nearing the end of the hall when he heard a scream behind a large door. Before he could think, he was bursting through said door, battle stance and all, only to be met by a large room full of ghosts sitting in a circle in... pajamas?
