Danny came stumbling into the classroom 15 minutes late looking battered and bruised.
"Sorry, Mr. Lancer, I was having troubles finding my way to school and I got lost and ended up in the middle of a fight between a squirrel and a very determined dog..." Danny stated as he made his way back to his seat.
"Daniel, you live three blocks from the school..." Lancer replied knowing full-well he was lying.
"I tried to take a different route and spruce things up a little..." Danny said smugly.
Everyone in the class just smirked as they all knew he was lying as well. You see, they all knew his secret. That he, Danny Fenton, is the Danny Phantom. The only problem with that? He didn't know that they all knew.
Across the room, two students were exchanging notes from desk to desk.
I bet it was another ghost attack that made him late! Who do you think it was?
I'm not sure. I'm sure it'll be on the news though. It's always on the news.
Class went on and the students of Lancer's first period all exchanged knowing glances and curious ones back at the boy in the back, who was now asleep. Then they all began speaking in hushed tones as they always did once he fell asleep.
"So who do you guys think it was this time?" someone asked.
"I don't know. From the extent of his injuries and that he was only 15 minutes late to class, probably someone like Technus," another person whispered.
"Well can't we just check the news? I'm sure they're already doing a report on it," someone else suggested prompting Lancer to turn on the tv.
Sure enough, on the news channel, they were talking about the fight and just as the class had predicted, Danny had fought Technus.
"Wow, our deduction skills have improved since last time," someone said just before the broadcast was interrupted by a different person whispering something in the news reporter's ear.
Hold on, this just in, we are getting reports that a big ghost in a metal armor suit was spotted only seconds ago headed in the direction of Casper High. Authorities are leaving now.
"Uh oh..." someone said.
Everyone turned to look at Danny who was still peacefully asleep, that is, until a blue mist escaped from his mouth and he shot up, completely awake and alert only to see all his classmates staring at him.
"Uhhh, was I asleep again?" Danny asked wiping the drool off his face.
"Out cold, man," one of the guys next to him said.
"Oh, well, I-uh, I'm actually not feeling very well so can I go to the bathroom?" Danny asked already standing.
"I mean if you feel it is an emergency, then yes, I believe so," Lancer replied.
"Oh believe me, it is," Danny said in a quieter voice as he bolted out the door.
Everyone in the classroom looked at each other and was about to move on until the ghost alarms started blaring calling for a school lockdown due to the oncoming ghost threat. Oddly though, Principle Ishiyama came into their classroom and locked the door behind her.
"Sorry to intrude but I was closest to this classroom and safety protocols state everyone must be in a locked room," she said as she made her way over to Lancer's desk.
The only problem with the Principle being in the room is that she is very by the book and follows all the rules set in place.
"Do you have your Ghost Intruder Lockdown Checklist, Mr. Lancer? We need to start going through that right now for the safety of the students," she said.
