AN: This is in Lancer's POV as it is his "Fenton Excuses" journal.
Monday, April 2nd:
Today, I had my plan for the day all mapped out and I was ready to teach from Bell to Bell. However, when the first bell rang, signaling the start of class, young Daniel's seat was empty... again.Naturally, I began talking, keeping his absence in the back of my mind as I knew he would come barging in with some excuse. Sure enough, seven minutes in, the door bursts open and Mr. Fenton stands in the doorway, clothing disheveled, shrubbery in his hair, and thorns on his clothes. This will be interesting.
"Sorry, I uh, got lost on the way here, somehow got stuck in a tree, then fell out of said tree into a rose bush..." he explained earning disbelieving looks around the room. "I'll just take my seat."
I enjoyed this one. He could have stopped while he was ahead but he was a pretty crap liar.
Wednesday, April 4th:
I was wondering if Mr. Fenton would even show up to school today. We were 30 minutes into the lesson before the familiar face slammed open the door, yet again."I'm so sorry! It's just, I was walking to school, because I missed the bus so I was going to be late anyway, and I saw this homeless guy and he looked so sad so I just had to run to the corner deli and buy him a sandwich. We got to talking and he told me his life story and how he used to be an astronaut and met aliens on the moon... Pretty cool guy. His name was Frank," Danny explained in a rushed tone before making his way to his seat again.
Thursday, April 5th:
Usually, I never exchange any words with Mr. Fenton when he give his outrageous excuses, but today was just weird.Young Daniel came in through the door only a couple minutes late today.
"Sorry, my Dad choked on a meatball and I had to dislodge it," he explained.
"He was eating meatballs for breakfast? Thats highly unlikely!" I responded. Who eats meatballs for breakfast?!
"You don't know my Dad's dietary habits," he argued as he crossed him arms.
"Okay - You get marked late anyway," I said. "Which means I will see you after school today for detention."
"Thats hardly fair when I was trying to save a person's life! Considering I do it all the time," he said mumbling the last part so quietly that I almost didn't hear. He then grumbled all the way to his seat.
Tuesday, April 10th:
Surprisingly, mr. Fenton arrived on time to class today. However, we were about 26 minutes into the lesson, talking about the wonders of Shakespeare and the pure beauty of poetry when he interrupted my class, yet again."Mr. Lancer, I really got to urinate!!!" He shouted looking slightly worried.
"Well you are just going to have to wait there, Mr. Fenton. You have used all of your bathroom passes up in the last week and I cannot allow you to leave this classroom anymore," I explained standing firm.
"But I-uh, just started my period!!" He shouted.
The whole class turned around and gaped at him, giving him the look that just said, "really?"
He didn't proceeded to stand up anyway and burst out the door, despite my yelling after him. What. A. Handful.
Friday, April 13th:
The bell to commence the start of class had rang and I hadn't even ordered out the first word before young Daniel came bursting in the room, yet again, shouting something obscure."Sorry I'm late! I was being chased by Jason! I'm pretty sure he was going to kill me... I mean it is Friday the 13th after all..." he said in an exasperated huff.
" Mr. Fenton, I regret to inform you that Jason does not exist. Now why don't you tell me the real reason why you were late? Again."
As soon as I finished uttering those words, someone else had burst through the door wearing a Jason mask, and wielding a chainsaw.
The whole class began to scream, and I myself fell out of my chair.
Then, the suspected murderer reached for his face and pulled off the mask to reveal just Mr. Foley.
The whole class groaned and the two went back to their seats, snickering.
Wednesday, April 18th:
Mr. Fenton opened the door and walked into class 10 minutes late. I then stopped my lecture and watched him stand there as I waited for his excuse."So, what's the reason for your being late today, Mr. Fenton?" I asked.
"Meh," was all he said as he went to his seat and proceeded to immediately place his head on his desk and sleep.
