Chapter Two

Arizona's weather sucks in August. The sun is out, blazing already and it's only 7am. I start my first day of high school as a freshman. Me and Lilah always imagined going to high school together. We always wondered what it was like. But now that I'm here it's nothing special.. Lilah always made high school sound fun, saying we should join clubs and sports. This place is hell. I don't fit in. I'm just an outcast here.

As I start to look around more students fill the campus. I look at my phone 7:35am. Hmm..ten minutes until first period starts. I grab the crumples paper out of my black backpack and try to take the crinkle out. I look down the list of class on my schedule. There first period is Spanish. Ugh, after that Biology, English, lunch. That's not so bad..I guess... I throw the paper back into my backpack and head into the Building looking for room LA73. Five minutes later there I find it. I open the door and walk in. And of course four pairs of eyes locked on me. They're all chicks and already they're staring at me. One of them walks over to me.

"Hey I'm Stacey" she said

"Dace."

She took awhile to say something else so it got awkward.

"What year are you?"

"Freshman. You?"

"Oh my god! You're a freshman! You don't look like one. I thought you were a junior or something"

"Nope freshman"

"Wow, I'm a sophomore, how do you like the school so far?"

"It's okay.." I trail off. I glanced around and saw more students entering the class. Damn this was a big class.

"Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?"

"No no you're fine. I'm just thinking."

"About?"

"Uh..rather not say"

"Okay well if you wanna talk I'm here! Um.. What lunch do you have?"

"Fourth period. Why?"

"You wanna have lunch-" the bell rang for first period to start. So she took a seat next to me. I knew what she was gunna ask so I told her sure and a smile was planted on her face. The teacher began talking half English then in Spanish.

"Buenos días clase, my name is Ms. Martin and I'll be your Spanish teacher for the year."

I groaned as the class went on. I took my pencil and notebook out and started to draw. After class was over Stacey said bye and I headed to the next class.
