Chapter Four
When I reached my sixth hour I walked around the first table in the front of the room And I stopped dead in my tracks. Stunned I can not believe what I see right before me. It's her... That girl looks just like her! It must be her!! I go to the side table and face my back where she sits. She's so beautiful just like when we were younger. I calm myself down and reassure myself it isn't her. That Lilah would never come back to Arizona. The teacher cleared his throat and began to speak
"Good evening class. I am your art teacher, Mr. Nunez."
My thoughts begin to ramble, so confused and the art teachers voice sounds so distant. My head is spinning. Heart pounding. All the memories flash into my mind. I can't take it! Then I hear Mr. Nunez call my name "Dace Acosta"
"Huh?" I replied
"Would you pay attention when I call attendance?"
"I apologize. I will pay attention from now on."
"Thank you."
He then says "Lilah Avila."
My mind goes blank. I can hear my heart thumping so loud I swore the people around me could hear it.
The teacher repeats himself then walks over to her "Ms. Avila take those headphones off! I will confiscate them as well. Maybe if you'd pay attention to role this wouldn't happen." He puts his hand out and she puts her headphones in his hand and set her head on the table.
She doesn't know I'm in this class! She didn't hear my name! Or maybe she did ? Maybe she doesn't remember me...why did she come back.. Why didn't she even call me or visit me to tell me she's back?.. Ten minutes pass and the teacher begins to speak again.
"Well class we will begin with drawing a picture of what's most important to you in the world. It is due tomorrow"
I take my sketchbook out and look at the young Lilah I drew earlier today.
"Hey isn't that drawing of the girl over at the other table across the room?" Said the guy that sits across the table from me.
"Huh? Oh noo um it's just a girl I drew."
"Looks like her. Are you sure? Wait so you know her? If you do, do you think you can give me her number dude?"
"Um I'm serious it's not her and I don't know her" it pained me just to say that I didn't know her. The bell finally rang and I took one last glance at Lilah. But she caught my gaze. I looked away quickly as possible and dashed to my next class. I want the day to be over already I can't handle this..
