Chapter 13

AN: I'm so sorry for putting all your hopes up for the past few days in regards of this chapter. I kinda accidentally pressed the publish button twice(I think) during the writing of this one and I'm so, so sorry for the trouble I caused you dear readers. As an apology, I humbly present you chapter 13, please enjoy your read.

It all happened in a blur, one moment, all three macaw chicks stood stunned and helpless as they gazed upon their approaching doom, and then on the next moment they're not. Having closed their eyes as they braced themselves for their potentially gorey demise, the trio of chicks only realized too late they were saved. Upon opening his eyes, Darknova saw that he, his sister and dear friend were not in the clutches of danger and were in fact in the clutches of safety, motherly safety. He also took note of the red streaks running down their savior's face.

Sarah sighed in relief, knowing that she arrived just in time to saved her little chicks from harm. Having been the closest to the trio, due to chasing Marcy around, she was able to react just in time when she heard the screech. Motherly instincts took control of the adult Spix as she break away from Marcy's tail and propelled herself towards Darknova, Andrea and Saphira. In doing so, she manage to take the trio with her into her wings and out of harms way, but her actions would not go without consequences however. By wrapping her wings around Darknova, Andrea and Saphira, Sarah just denied herself the means to change direction and maintain flight, which resulted into her slamming into a nearby tree with the kids. Luckily, the trio were safe and unharmed, as for Sarah however, not so much.

"Are you three alright?" Ignoring the throbbing pain from her head, Sarah asked as released the kids from her embrace and stood up.

"Yes mom/ma'am", Darknova, Andrea and Saphira replied respectively. They seem to be still stunned by how fast the events have occurred.

"Thank goodness then", Sarah forced out a relieved smile despite the pain.

"Mom...your, bleeding...", Andrea worryingly pointed out her mother's head injury.

Sarah, lifted a wing to feel the area around her head to see if her daughter was saying the truth. Sure enough, her head started to sting as she touched a certain area and when she brought her wing to her face to check, she saw blood, lots of it.

Andrea, Darknova and Saphira barely heard Sarah as she said, "I thought it was only a headache..."

Before any of them can address the situation, the same screech from earlier resonated yet again. Sarah could have turned around and face the source of the loud sound, but before she could react, as if struck like lightning, she was suddenly and forcefully pulled off from the branch and carried away from the kids.

"Mom!!" Darknova and Andrea yelled out as they saw their mother being carried away from them.

"Kids!" Sarah shouted out as she starts to struggle in her captor's grasps. "Let go of me you bastard!!"

As if an answer to her demand, her captor, now revealed to be an eagle, let her go, literally, not even giving her any warning to prepare herself. As talons released her battered body, Sarah could only scream as she plummeted to the ground. She would have hit the ground hard, potentially crippling her for life if weren't for another pair of talons to grab hold of her and prevent that from happening. Sarah would kissed anyone that would save her in this situation, even though she's already taken. Thankfully though, she doesn't need to worry about that because as she turned to see who her savior was, it was her beloved mate Blueray.

"Thank you Ray", Sarah smiled as she hugged Blueray in relief.

"Sure...thing dear", Blueray began, his voiced strained by the pressure, Sarah is putting him through. "But...could you stop hugging me? Your making it difficult for me to remain airborne."
