Chapter 25
Seeing me frozen, Matt told me, "I found it in your letter box, I swear it wasn't there with the other one."
"I believe you, Matt," I assured him while savagely and curiously, I opened the envelope. In it there was a letter, I pulled it out of the envelope and I took a glance in the envelope to see if there was another sticky note, fortunately there wasn't, but instead there was a necklace charm. Pulling the necklace out a flashback played in my mind.
Ding dong! Ding dong!
"Samantha did you invite someone to come?" my mum asked me as we were the only two in the house.
"No mum, I didn't," I told her while shaking my head. Even though it was my birthday it was like a normal ordinary boring day.
"I'll go and check who is it," my mum said as she stood up and walked away to see who came at this time.
From where I was sitting, in the kitchen I heard my mum opening the front door but no voices were heard neither my mum's.
Not hearing footsteps either I started to get worried. I switched off the television and as soon as I stood up from the couch the lights went off, leaving me standing alone in the middle of the kitchen in total darkness without any light on I got scared. I was scared to death in fact I started trembling.
"Mum?" I yelled, hoping that she didn't get kidnapped or murderers didn't kill her.
"Mum, you here?" I asked again, but there was still no response.
Skimming the room, I saw something shining. I tried to walk towards it and thanks to my ninja skills I arrived well, I noticed that it were candles. Next to the candles I saw a sharp black knife. Seeing the knife, I froze in the middle of the room. I was staring at the knife and in the background I heard footsteps.
"Mum are you here?" I asked again while crossing my finger maybe she is here. In response all I heard is someone talking, but at the same time it was as if they placed a hand over their mouth preventing them from talking well.
Making a bit of courage, I decided to take a few steps back and as I was pulling the knife from the table a hand was placed on mine. I screamed!
"Ouch my ear!" a voice groaned and pulled her hands to cover her ear. I took that moment to grab the knife and as I grabbed it, I heard voices saying, "Surprise!" And the lights went on.
The person who was near me was my cousin, Casey and in front of me there was my family as well with my aunts and grandparents and even some friends.
"Mum, you scared me to death!" I told her as I approached her.
"I know honey your face was worth a watch!" she told me with a huge grin across her face.
"How could you see my face?" I asked her. All she did was wink at me and she went into the kitchen to bring some food. As I saw my mum leave somebody hugged me from behind. Turning around I saw Mariam, who at that time was my best friend and we didn't do anything without each other.
