Chapter 30

Anxiously tapping my right foot I finally decided to go and confront her. After telling my parents that I was going out, I snatched my car keys and my phone and I walked out of the house.

Unlocking my car, I got into it and I started the engine. In less than 20 minutes I arrived in front of Mariam's house. Parking my car, I turned off the engine and I walked towards their porch. Fisting a fist, I knocked three times on their wooden black door and in less than fifteen seconds the door was wide opened.

"Samantha!" Ms Duncan greeted me, "You're back!"

"Indeed I am," I told her with a smile.

"How was life there? You were in England right?" she questioned me with a grin across her white face.

"Yes I was in England. Life was great up there, but you know in here I lived my teenage and my childhood life and I missed that," I admitted.

"Of course you did. I believe that leaving your family was hard as well," she agreed with me and commented.

"To be honest since we weren't on good terms it wasn't so hard, but by time it got hard for me living away from them," I admitted.

"I see," she told me with a nod.

"Is Mariam here?" I asked her as our discussion ended.

"No she isn't," she answered me and shook her head, "Don't you remember her, every Saturday she goes to the shopping arcade to buy new clothes?"

"Oh," I mentally slapped my head.

"Not to get into you two business, but I reckon you two stopped being close friends," she said.

"Well we did stop being friends, but I kind of need to talk to her. Did she mention to you about the talk she told me?" I asked her. Last time Mariam and me were friends her mother and she had a strong relationship and they told everything to each other.

"About her wanting your forgiveness and your friendship?" she answered me and asked me in the same way. Answering her with a nod she told me, "I know what she did to you was harsh and at that time I was ashamed to say that she was my daughter, after what she did to you, but Samantha we are all humans we all do bad stuff and we all do sins, some of us make small sins that are easily forgiven but then there are who make big sins that are difficult to forgive or they are never forgiven. I don't know if you're still a religious person, Samantha, and to be honest it's not my business, but on all it's not our job to judge people by their sins all we can do is forgive and start from the beginning, leaving everything behind."

"I know that and I agree perfectly with you on every single word you said, but you should also remember that it's not easy to forgive when someone makes big sins that cause a huge mess and which cause conflicts into other's relationship," I commented.

"I agree with your point, but we only live once so why not be friends with everyone?" she asked me a rhetorical question.

Not knowing what to tell her I shrugged my shoulders and I excused myself to go, "It was nice to talk to you, but I better go and have a talk with Mariam."
