Chapter 31

Turning the door knob clockwise, the door opened revealing a white painted room. In the room there was only a red table with four wooden chairs around it and a wooden credenza in front of a wall. The red table was empty while the credenza was full of papers and handbooks. Walking inside the room there was a smell of dust and to even prove this fact the table, chairs, credenza and even the papers were covered with dust.

"This room has been closed over 2 years," Carly commented probably due to my staring towards the dust allover the furniture.

"That explains the smell," I mumbled. Glancing at the credenza I got curious what the papers and handbooks were about. I walked towards it and I grabbed the first thing that was closer to me. It was a dirty and torn handbook. Opening it the smell of dust came out and it made me sneeze, which grabbed Carly's attention.

"What do you think you're doing?" she asked me spontaneously as she saw me with the handbook in my left hand.

"Reading what is written in here," I answered her with a shrug.

"Nobody gave you permission to do so," she responded and approached me.

"Nobody told me that I can't read anything," I responded her back and took a few steps back.

"Sam I told you, I will answer every single question you ask me with sincerity, but you can't read what is written in there," she told me in a serious tone.

"You'll answer every single question huh?" I pondered her with a smirk.

"What is with that smirk?" she glanced at me suspiciously.

"Answer my question first and then I'll answer yours," I told her with a small smile dancing around my plump pink lips.

"Yes Samantha I will answer all of your questions," Carly answered me, "Now tell me what is it with that smirk?" she begged me and walked closer to me again.

"What is written in this handbook?" I asked her while pointing the dirty handbook towards her.

"Can we jump to another question? I will leave the best questions till the end," Carly avoided my question.

"You'll still have to answer it after because if you don't do so I will do it my way," I told her and looked directly in her eyes, which made Carly shiver.

"As you wish," Carly commented.

"Someday at the end of July, two years ago, my father was in the hospital and due to my young age Robert had to drive me to and fro. Once I got chased after the police, jumping in Robert's car, he said he was going to take me to you, how did you know that? Not only that he was going to take me to you, but how did you know everything else?" I questioned her as I took a seat on the dirty wooden chair.

"Easy! I placed a microphone in your phone that way I heard every word you said and every word you heard," she answered my question with a proud smile.

"You placed it?" I asked her. It couldn't be her that placed the microphone in my phone since I never met her except in the hospital.

"To be precise, it was Mariam, the one who acted as your best friend. Do you remember that time when she faked it that she didn't have any money in her phone and you told her, 'You can use mine," and she called her mother in the bathroom. Well she didn't really call her mother, in reality what she did was put the microphone in your phone," Carly explained.
