A few days go by and they're finally letting Zamani go home today. I'm going to go pick her up later, but first I have to pick up my girlfriend from the airport. It's early and I have a little time to kill before her flight gets in so I'm going to check out a few apartments I've had my eye on since I'm moving here.
I look into the mirror and run my fingers through my curls in my hair. Wish I'd never cut my hair off. Hm. I rummage through my bags and pull out a maroon shirt and bandana, tying it around my forehead. I put on my skinny jeans with cuts on the thighs and knees and slip on my maroon chucks. I grab my keys and head out the door.
I reach the first apartment just before the scheduled time and stand outside of the office. I look into the window to see if anyone is in but I don't see anything. "Hey, sorry I'm just a tad late. You must be...?" A woman says rushing up to the door.
"Kay. I'm Kay"
"Yes, Kay, of course. Come on it and I'll show you the apartment" the woman says. She extends her hand and I shake it. She's very short. Or maybe not, I am 6'0 after all. "Follow me"
I follow her up the steps and she shows me to the room I was looking at. "You can take a look around, take pictures if needed. I have to go fill out some paperwork so when you're done, just stop by and let me know" she says standing at the door.
"Cool, thanks" I reply walking inside. I see a fully furnished living room, leading to the kitchen. There's a dishwasher under the sink and a refrigerator to the left. I finish looking around at both bedrooms and quickly go downstairs to the office. "Hey, uh how much do I put down or whatever?"
"First, last, and security deposit" the lady says before looking at me eyeing me up and down. "If you don't have it right now, that's fine. But these things go fast"
"How much" I ask again annoyed.
"$1500 in total" she says looking back down at her paperwork.
I reach into my bag and pull out an envelope full of money, taking out a few bills. "Is there a pet fee?"
"Yeah $100 down $25 a month" she says looking up and then her jaw dropping at the cash in my hand.
"Where do I sign?" I ask sitting at her desk. She reaches into a file and hands over a paper.

After I sign the papers and get everything handed over, I drive off to the airport. I'm a few minutes late but Tee's plane hasn't landed yet so I sit, waiting.
It's fun to watch people when you're bored. You start seeing habits and random outbursts. People running late for planes, mothers screaming at kids, it's beautiful, fun, madness.
"Baby" I hear from behind me. I get up and turn and see my girlfriend. I rush over to her and help her with her many bags she packed.
"When did this happen?" I ask, smiling, referring to her box braids. I run my fingers through them. "They're cute baby"
"Thank you, love" Tee says back to me smiling and giggling. I grab her around her waist and quickly peck her lips as I've missed them so much.
"Let's go babe" I say picking up majority of the bags. She clinches onto my arm and walks with me to the car. I put the bags in the back and get into the drivers seat. "Oh, I found us a place"
"When?" Tee says shocked, as she's the one always planned out and making things happen.
I let out a smile and look at her. "This morning. Right before I got to the airport. You'll love it. Dishwasher, new fridge, everything"
