Kay's POV

The sun shines bright through the window of the empty room Ashanti let me sleep in while I'm here visiting Zamani. The bed is still made because I crashed before even getting under the covers.

After showering and changing into a black Thrasher shirt I walk out of the room and reach the door. Ashanti is on the couch watching television.

"I'm about to go see Zamani, you want to come?" I ask, looking back at her.

"No. I don't want to see her like that" she says shaking her head.

"Gotchu. I'll be back later" I say shutting the door behind me.

I'm still not use to the traffic here yet, it's congested and the streets are clogged with pedestrians and other vehicles. I plug up my phone to my aux and go to my Busy playlist. On comes Rockstar by Post Malone, it's not what I'm in the mood for but it'll do. I turn up the radio and wait for traffic on the highway to move.

The song ends short as a call is coming through the bluetooth in the car.

"Wassup ma?" I say answering the call from my girlfriend, Tee.

"How's it going? Is she okay?" Tee asks frantically.

"I can't really tell. She's been unconscious since I got here yesterday. I'm on my way back up there"

"Keep me updated, I miss you"

"I miss you too" I tap the steering wheel and the call ends, cutting the music back on. The traffic is finally moving and I cruise on to the hospital.

The hospital is ironically, dead. Not much movement. My shoes squeak on the freshly mopped floor with each step until I reach the elevator. I press the button going up and someone steps beside me.

"Think she's awake yet?" Cuda asks as I look over at him.

"Shit, knowing her she's enjoying the relaxation so probably not" I reply laughing.

He joins my laugh as we step onto the elevator. There's awful elevator music and Cuda attempts to tap his foot to the beat which doesn't work. I laugh at him being goofy as the elevator opens up and we both turn left.

We reach the room and Zamani is still unconscious. I place my hand on her arm and look at her. "Hey beautiful, I'm here with you all day today". I pull up a chair and sit beside her, kicking my feet up on her bed. Cuda takes a look at her and shakes his head, pulling up a chair to the other side.

"Seeing her like this, pisses me off" he blurts out. "I mean, I just moved here and she's basically my only friend. And to see her like this, struggling, really, really pisses me off" I see him clinching his fist in the chair.

"Bro, calm down. Right now, we just have to make sure she's okay. That's first, the rest we'll worry about when we knows she's okay, and awake at least"

"This doesn't bother you? Look at her. You know she wouldn't do this for herself, you know if she wasn't caring and worrying about somebody else, she wouldn't be in this mess. She cares to much and this is what she got. That doesn't piss you off, Kay?"

"Yes, it fucking pisses me off, okay??" I snap, standing up. "The first time meeting my best friend and she's.. she's.. fuck. We have to do something" I plead pacing back and forth. "Do you know who it was?"

"I know what he looks like, but that's about it. I'd have to ask Baby. It was her boyfriend" Cuda responds.

"Stop. You aren't going to do anything" We hear Zamani say, grunting and turning slightly in the bed. We both stop and are shocked. "Hey beautiful, wasn't expecting you here" Zamani says to me, causing me to shed a single tear.

"Hey gorgeous" I say stepping over to her.

"Why are you crying?" she's ask me and I freeze over my words. I grab her hand and kiss it.

"I'm glad you're okay, sweetie" I say leaning down, hugging her cold body. "I'm sorry meeting you had to be like this"

"Don't be sorry, at all" she says putting her hand on my cheek. "I'm glad you're here" she says before looking over to Cuda. "Hey Chance" she adds on trying to flash a smile and then groaning.

"Hey, love" he replies to her.

"How long was I out? A week? Two?" she wonders.

"Uh, about two days?" Cuda says questioning.

"Yeah about two days" I confirm.

"Hm. Felt longer" Zamani says chuckling softly.

Everyone stops and looks at the doorway as Baby is standing there, tears streaming from her face as she sees Zamani awake. Her lip quivering and shaking. Zamani stops and looks at her and loses all emotion on her face.

I look at Zamani and then Baby, and then back at Zamani.

"Um... hey" Baby says to her.

"Hi" Zamani replies, softly.

Baby takes a few steps into the room. "I, uh, wasn't able to say thank you" she says, stuttering. Her eyes bouncing from Zamani's to mine. Tears still streaming from her face. Zamani doesn't respond, just looks at Baby. "I really appreciate what you did. Trying to protect me and take up for me"

Zamani begins to let tears come down her face.

"I think you should leave" I say to Baby. She looks at me and just nods slowly walking out. "How are you feeling?" I ask her.

Her jaw clinches tight and she turns her face away from me. I walk to the other side and look in her red, teary eyes. Cuda walks out of the room. "Talk to me, gorgeous" I say to her.

"I don't want to see her again" she claims, wiping her eyes, but tears continue to fall.

"Then I'll keep her away from you" I say wiping her tears for her.

"You won't be here long" she cries. "You have to go back, you have Tee and everything"

"I'll fly Tee out here. I'm not going anywhere, love" I grab her hand and squeeze it. She nods and looks at me. "Get your rest, gorgeous"
