Two Months Later

Third Person POV

Kay and Baby are sitting on Kay's bed watching the newest episodes of Orange is the New Black. Kay doesn't care for it much but it gets her out of her apartment. School starts back next week and Baby is entering senior year. She doesn't seem to care much, just ready for it to be over with.

Kay looks back at Baby and sees her glued to her phone. "Yo, you got me watching this lame ass show. The least you could do is watch it" she knocks her phone on the bed.

"I'm sorry!!" Baby claims, picking the phone back up and rolling her eyes.

"What got your attention, huh?"

Baby starts to smile and blush. "Nothing"

"No, no. Fill me in" Kay sits up on the bed and turns in her direction.

"Just this girl I had a little thing with beginning of sophomore year" Baby says cheesing harder.

"Getting you butterflies, that's cute. Let me see her"

"Nooo" Baby clutches her phone. Kay gives her a look and Baby rolls her eyes again. "Fine, fine" she goes to her photo gallery and shows Kay the brown toned girl with long blonde hair and her nails done, painted lime green. Her lips glossed and shining in the light as it's a selfie from the car.

"Oohh, okay!! I see you shorty. I didn't know fems was your thing" Kay spits, admiring the girl.

"Shut up, she's so sweet. Been taking my mind off of things"

Kay looks at her and Baby stares back. "What?" she asks, grabbing her phone back.

"Nothing, can we get back to the show?"

"Oh now you want to watch the show?" Baby asks, sarcastically.

They both turn their attention to the screen and watch the show.

The Next Day

Kay and Cuda are at the mall sitting in the food court scouting and talking about any attractive girls that come their way or past them. "Don't you have a girlfriend?" Kay asks Cuda.

"Aye, aye, I ain't fucking nobody or cheating so looking is okay" he says still looking around.

Kay laughs and eats her fries that are splayed across her tray. Baby approaches with the girl from her picture and they sit with Kay and Cuda. "Well, well, introduce us" Kay says smiling at the girl.

Baby gives her a dirty look. "Kay, Tylisha, Tylisha, Kay, Cuda. Say hi or whatever"

She waves to them both nervously. "Don't be nervous beautiful" Baby says looking over at Tylisha and plants a kiss on her lips. "So what are y'all talking about?"

Cuda and Kay look at each and laugh. "Nothing, I've been getting ready for school next week" Cuda says, scrolling through his phone. The conversation fades to the background as Baby's eye is caught by a tall girl facing the other direction. Her back is to Baby but her blonde, curly, hair hanging from underneath a red toboggan with a black puffed ball above it. Her hair is flowing and falling across the back of the Jimmy Butler, Chicago Bulls jersey. Both arms filled with tattoos as her hands are stuck in the pockets of her khaki cargo shorts.

"Baby, Baby, Hello?" Kay asks, waving to catch Baby's attention. Baby shakes and snaps out of it.

"Huh? Wassup?" she asks, still looking at the girl from the corner of her eye.

Cuda begins to speak but Baby cuts him off. "Sorry, I'll be back"

She gets up and runs from the table towards the girl and turns her around. The girls green eyes meet Baby's and Baby starts to cry uncontrollably.

The girl looks at her but does not move. Baby reaches inside of her purse and pulls out a wipe and inches towards her. The girl clinches her jaw as Baby wipes below her eye and slowly it appears.

Survivor

Baby drops the wipe and kneels to the ground. She stands back up and hugs her, squeezes her tightly. "Zamani I missed you so fucking much. I'm so sorry. I swear to God I am. I'm sorry for everything. Please don't leave me. Please"

Baby cries onto the jersey of Zamani as she grips the cloth.

Zamani looks at the table where Kay and Cuda both have their jaws dropped to the floor. Tylisha is sitting there in confusion. Zamani wraps her arms around Baby for a bit before pushing her away from her lightly.

She looks at Baby and backs away, then slowly leaves from the food court exit.
