I shot up in bed, breathing heavily, a thin glaze of sweat on my forehead.
Was that just a dream?
I just shook my head and got out of bed. I was meeting up with my friends (and fellow guards) to discuss the new mission we were given. It was my first ever mission and they were supposed to show me what to do.
Getting dressed in my uniform, a white tank top, white fingerless gloves that had belt like straps wrap up my arms and connect to the strap of my top, white skinny jeans, knee high boots with gold lining, and my cloak with a gold ankh on the back. I pull my long silver hair into a side braid. Most people think that my hair is dyed, considering my roots are black, but that’s just my natural hair.
Rushing down stairs, I grab a granola bar and head into the woods behind my house. Both of my parents died when I was eight, so it’s just been me in the house for the last six years.
Making it to the old clubhouse in the middle of the forest, I quickly perform the spell to get in. You see, the clubhouse is enchanted. On the outside, it’s no bigger than a shed and looks abandoned with discarded toys and drawings inside. If you perform the spell though, the inside is as big as the King’s grand ballroom and just as extravagant.
The room looked like something you’d see in a sci-fi movie. Holographics everywhere, the air buzzing with magic energy, and the large table in the middle of everything. This table is the most important thing in here. It’s a map that will show us the whole world and worlds in other dimensions.
“Look who finally decided to show up.” Aether piped up from the control station. He’s the brains of the operation and is definitely the smartest here. He definitely doesn’t look like your typical nerd though. He has lilac colored hair that was kind of shaggy, silver eyes, and was about 6’1”.
“Sleep in again, Nyrimah?” Zoella giggles from her spot at the table. She was the creative one of the group, usually coming up with the best strategies. She had her shoulder length, mint colored hair pulled up in a bun, her ice blue eyes gleamed with amusement, and she stood at 5’5”.
“Of course she did. Doesn’t she always?” Fenris grumbled from his spot on the wall next to Aether. He’s the best at combat. He had dark red hair styled in a faux hawk, forest green eyes that were always glaring at me, standing 6’3”.
“Be nice Fenris.” Zion said, as he walked into the room, not looking up from his tablet. Zion was the leader of the group, and none of us would trade him for anything. His hair was blue and styled in a quiff, his amber eyes darting from side to side as he read the contents of his tablet, he’s the tallest of the group standing at 6’6”.
“Sorry.” I mumble taking my seat. My amethyst eyes trained on my lap.
“Hey don’t worry about it. I was late too.” Zion said finally looking up from his screen. “Let’s get this meeting started.”
Aether and Fenris took their seats at the table. Zion at the head, Aether to his right, Fenris across from Aether, Zoella next to Fenris, and I’m across from her. Zion waived his right hand over the table, activating it with a spell.
“So, the bottom line is, Zaikon has called for his followers to find the Onyx Leviathan Cross that will release him from Limbo. Our mission is just to find the Cross first and give it to Gabriel or stop Zaikon’s followers before they can release him.” Zion explains, “Gabriel has given strict orders to avoid violance at all cost. Even if that means retreat.”
“What?” I ask incredulously, “we have to retreat before we fight? That’s stupid!”
“You don’t have to agree, you just have to obey.” Fenris says, giving me his infamous glare. I don’t think he likes me very much.
